This Week: Well, they did it. Sort of. After telling us what the plan was like evil Bond villains, the White House released the latest in its abuses of executive power this week to, ostensibly, “Improve Educational Outcomes” by doing all it can to close the US Dept of Ed without technically closing it. It’s a textbook case of policy violence, with only a thin veil covering the efforts at privatization, weakening of the institutions that educate the nation, and outright attack on what’s left of our civil rights infrastructure. Oh, and in case you didn’t also see, apparently your favorite vaccine denier will be in charge of school lunch and special ed now, and at least 5 states are now laying the groundwork to eliminate access to free public education for all children in America.
