Then, it seems the Department of Justice has finally righted a wrong and changed their minds in the E. Jean Carroll case. They have now decided to abandon plans to defend Trump in the lawsuit - saying in a court filing that they no longer believe he was acting within the scope of his presidential duties when he defamed her in 2019.
