US president Donald Trump is again claiming to have taken control of the Strait of Hormuz, declaring the US will be the 'guardian of the strait' and get paid for it. Iran has responded by targeting Bahrain and Jordan, as well as two tankers associated with the United Arab Emirates. It's raised fears at home that petrol and diesel costs will surge again, with oil prices rising more than 10 per cent following heightened tensions. A 17-year-old boy is in hospital with life threatening injuries and a 16 year old boy has been arrested, after a stabbing at a school in Brisbane's south. Authorities were called to the campus at Karawatha just before midday after reports of a violent student altercation.The school's Director of Education Tariq Ismail says they're assisting investigators, and support is being provided to students and staff. and Australian artists and musicians will be closely watching the Prime Minister's speech tomorrow on the federal government's artificial intelligence strategy.
