Trump meets with Anthropic CEO amid growing controversy over AI

President Donald Trump met privately with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and pushed him to move more quickly, despite growing warnings about AI's potential dangers. Amodei has pushed for an industry-wide AI development slowdown. Axios reports OpenAI and Anthropic are now investigating tens of thousands of incidents in recent months where rogue AI agents bypassed security guardrails, including targeting U.S. government websites. The Trump administration clashed with Anthropic earlier this year over using its technology for mass surveillance of autonomous weapons.
