Trump Promises Illegal $5,000 "Dividend" If Republicans Win Midterms in Unhinged RNC Speech.

At an unprecedented Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Donald Trump delivered a nearly two-hour address urging attendees to "pretend that I’m running" and framing the upcoming elections as a direct referendum on his leadership. To rally support, Trump unveiled a stunning proposal: a $5,000 cash payout to every adult citizen—dubbed the "Trump dividend"—if voters keep Republicans in power in both the U.S. House and Senate. "If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000," Trump announced to the crowd. Critics point out that conditioning a massive federal payout on a specific electoral outcome raises significant legal questions under 18 U.S.C. § 597, which makes it a federal crime to offer expenditures to influence votes. Paired with ongoing national debate over aggressive redistricting and voting regulations, this proposed payout represents a bold and highly controversial bid to shape the outcome of the midterms.
