The President now controls dozens of federal agencies that were designed to make decisions based on expertise and evidence rather than politics. In a 6 to 3 majority, the Court ruled the President can fire the heads of independent agencies whenever he wants. For any reason or no reason at all. That means agencies like the Federal Trade Commission, which polices unfair business practices and protects consumers, now answer directly to the President instead of operating at arm's length from politics.
