Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) held a press conference at Newark Liberty International Airport and said: “The message today is: Fund the TSA and get ICE out." Other Democrats echoed the criticism, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) warning that “untrained ICE agents” at checkpoints put travelers at risk and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) saying that “masked, armed police at travel checkpoints is a hallmark of dystopian movies" that creates chaos for political leverage.
