Truth and Purpose
from From the Pulpit · host Oakridge Bible Chapel
When we read the Bible, there are things we are commanded to do. And whether because of our immaturity, the culture around us, or our sinful nature (or most likely a combo of the three), we often find ourselves asking "why"? As we continue to study the words of Peter to the scattered church of first century believers, we're going to see two pairs of imperatives or commands that Peter has for his readers: one pair focused on their personal lives and relationship with God, and one about their communal lives and relationships with others. But rather than leave them wondering or guessing, he immediately takes time to follow both up with an explanation, both of which are rooted in the foundational truth of their identity thanks to the gospel of Christ. Key Passage: 1 Peter 1:13-2:10 Speaker: Andrew Longmire
