Many of the temptations that we face in this life are the result of our own passions and desires. We are also tempted, as Jesus was, by the devil. It is certain that the temptations initiated by the devil are to cause us to fall away from the Lord and to mar our testimony. Those temptations which find their root in our own lusts are often cloaked in good intentions, thus making them more difficult to disern. Nonetheless, every temptation which we yield to will eventually lead us away from the will and purpose of the Lord for our lives. 1 Corinthians 10:13 King James Version (KJV) 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
