In the opening lesson of Part II, Responding to Truth, we examine the most important question a person can ask: “What must I do to be saved?” This lesson explains our need for forgiveness, God’s saving grace through Jesus Christ, and the obedient response of faith revealed in the New Testament—hearing the gospel, believing in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Jesus as Lord, and being baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Salvation cannot be earned, but God’s gracious gift must be received according to His will.
