單元一 讓姐帶你聽新聞 撒奇萊雅族是2007年1月17日由官方承認的第13個台灣原住民族。 花蓮古稱「奇萊」，奇萊二字是「Sakiraya－撒奇萊雅」的諧音。「撒奇萊雅」是阿美族中一個支系的名稱，世居花東縱谷北端，所以此地就以奇萊命名。撒奇萊雅族也分佈在新城鄉 壽豐鄉 豐濱鄉 和瑞穗鄉等等的鄉鎮。
