Next, Amber discusses how the Tucson Convention Center is gearing up for having events again with their Director of Sales and Marketing, Kate Breck Calhoun. Kate Breck Calhoun’s bio: Kate Breck Calhoun | Director of Sales & Marketing at Tucson Convention Center Attended Salpointe Catholic High School, Pima Community College, and the University of Arizona. Since 2003, Kate has worked at the Tucson Convention Center in several positions and currently she is the Director of Sales and Marketing. The Tucson Convention Center one of 325 facilities managed by ASMGlobal, the world’s leading venue management and services company. Prior to her employment with the Tucson Convention Center, Kate worked for Residence Inn by Marriott for 12 years. Her positions with Marriott included oversight of Sales and Marketing, Operation, Front Desk and Housekeeping departments. She traveled to several hotel facilities around the West Coast and worked with leadership teams on operation and sales budgets, brand acquisitions, ownership and property management changes. As well as her day-to-day responsibilities at the Tucson Convention Center, Kate is a certified group fitness instructor for Les Mills International teaching Bodycombat™, Bodystep™, and Bodyjam™. Kate has been an active member of several working boards in the community including Carondelet Foundation, Greater Tucson Leadership, Public Relations Society of America, SKAL International (a hospitality association,) and Hospitality Sales and Marketing International Association. Kate is El Rio Foundation Board President; she is on the board of WISE Arizona (Women in Sports and Events) and was recently appointed to Citizens Police Review Advisory Board by Councilperson Nikki Lee. Kate completed the YWCA’s Women on the Move program, Greater Tucson Leadership’s Adult Leadership Program, and International Association of Venue Management’s Facility Management and Graduate Institute programs. Kate has two children, Nicole and Matthew and two rescued Greyhounds, Grace and Gertrude.
