The western understanding of tulpas was developed by 20th-century European mystical explorers, who interpreted the idea independently of buddhahood.There was even a prominent scientific research study done in 1972 by renowned parapsychologist Dr. A. R. George Owen that delved into trying to create a physical entity just by thinking about their persona.
