Turmeric Egg Salad Ep. 38 | Life at the Table

from A Savory Moment by Life At The Table · host Chef Sandra Lewis

Turmeric Egg Salad Not Your Grandmother’s Egg Salad A long held tradition is that the number of pleats in a traditional chef’s tocque, that tall, pleated white hat that chefs wear represents the number of ways that a chef can cook an egg which is 100. Eggs are delicious and I love them! The simplest way to prepare an egg is boiled. In my previous post, I shared how to perfectly boil an egg, and as promised today’s topic is what to do with that beautifully boiled egg besides peel and eat with a bit of salt and pepper. Eggs have always been and always will be a part of my diet. Each one is protein-packed and only 75 calories, if you’re counting. I buy my eggs from a friend who raises chickens so they are extra tasty. So what’s not to love? Here’s one of the easiest and tastiest dishes to make with boiled eggs – egg salad. Sure you can spiff up egg salad with pickles, relish, and a little mustard. But let’s be honest, while that approach might fill you up with egg deliciousness, it’s not likely to make you pine for a second sandwich really soon. Turmeric Egg Salad Here’s a new twist: Turmeric Egg Salad. It’s not your grandmother’s sandwich! It’s turmeric, paprika, a dash of cayenne, and onion powder, mayonnaise, dijon mustard, and voila, you have just elevated the traditional egg salad into something you’ll crave. Serve it on your favorite piece of toasted bread, (I prefer a little crackle or crunch to my egg salad sandwich), or not if you prefer a more silky texture. And remember, great cooking does not have to be complex. The secret is to make simple food taste really good. That’s part of the joy of cooking and creating meals for life at the table.
