Turning On The Lights Does Not Season Dinner

Light changes everything the moment it flips on. We start Tuesday with John 1:9 and the claim that Jesus is “the true light” who gives light to everyone, then we slow down long enough to ask what that actually means for real life. We also untangle a common mix-up: salt and light get quoted together, but they do different work. Salt preserves and restrains decay. Light reveals, guides, and makes what’s real visible so we don’t stumble through our days guessing. Then we sit with the weighty compliment Jesus gives his followers: “You are the light of the world.” That does not make us equal with Christ, but it does put us on his mission. We connect it back to Genesis, where being made in God’s image means we are designed to reflect God’s glory into creation. Even after the fall, that calling remains, and God makes the invisible visible through the ordinary faithfulness of his people. The goal is not building our name. The goal is living in a way that turns attention to the Father. We close with a gut-check that hits close to home: when people look at us, do they mainly see hobbies, politics, and opinions, or do they see Jesus? We give one practical step you can do today, right in your routine: choose an area where you have been leaving Jesus out and explicitly give God the glory for a specific blessing or success there.
