I recently watched the Netflix original series, The Get Down, directed by Baz Luhrmann, a show taking place in the mid-1970s when disco was dying and hip hop was just starting. I quickly became fascinated with the deeper elements of the show and so Chris, a hip hop enthusiast, joins me on this episode to answer my questions regarding the music, the art, and the culture of hip hop. I highly recommend watching both the series and Hip Hop Evolution, a documentary on the history of hip hop which is also available on Netflix.
