TV Break: March 2021 - Superman & Lois, WandaVision, Ted Lasso, Paramount Plus’ Launch, & Young Rock

from The Pop Break · host Alex Marcus

Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television. Here’s the format of the show: The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, and Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including Disney+'s WandaVision; Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso; The CW’s Batwoman; and NBC’s Young Rock. News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh discuss the pricing, offerings, and massive recently announced slate of eventual original programs coming to the newly launched Paramount Plus streaming service. Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, and Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. Josh & Alex decided Disney+ won the month thanks to WandaVision dominating the cultural discussion, the upcoming film release of Raya and the Last Dragon, and their recently announced spring and summer slate of originals. Meanwhile, Bill stood up for HBOMAX as they turn the corner this month after their rough 2020 with an infusion of buzzy movies and TV such as Judas & The Black Messiah, Tom & Jerry, and Farrow/Allen. Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, and Josh watched The CW’s Superman & Lois and were all pleasantly surprised by this pivot away from the normal superhero TV formula in favor of a more grounded and lived in domestic drama with a dash of superheroics.
