Twa Holidays, One Subby

Dundee swept Clyde aside 4-0 to tee up a Premier Sports Cup last-16 clash with Aberdeen.   It was described as ‘fatigued and laboured’ by Steven Pressley.   Iain Collin, standing in for George Cran at Dens Park, analyses that assessment.   We discuss the first glimpse of what Alan Forrest will bring to the Dee, and the other HUGE selection calls the Dark Blues have ahead of their opener at Celtic Park.   And who will be between the sticks at the home of the champions following the signing of Owen Goodman on loan from Crystal Palace?  Meanwhile, Alan was in Salford to watch Dundee United lose 3-2 in a thoroughly watchable friendly against the EFL League Two title hopefuls.   Just how worried should United fans be by the first two goals conceded, and the echoes of last season? Especially ahead of what is now a baptism of fire to start the campaign: Rangers, Hearts, Celtic, Dundee.   And we chew over the Iurie Iovu vs Bert Esselink selection question.   Lorenzo Sassetti has put himself in the picture to become a Premiership record-breaker on Friday night, while we spotlight the other youngsters who have lit up the last few weeks for the Terrors.   There’s also praise for Sam Cleall-Harding and Owen Stirton, who are both on fire at the start of their loan spells, and should be targeting a STARTING place at United next season – not just being part of the first team squad.   With Sean Hamilton and George Cran both away on their holidays, Alan Temple in joined by Graeme Finnan and Iain Collin for this week’s episode.    You can also see us on YouTube at youtube.com/@TheCourierUK/videos
