TweetsMap - Twitter Tools Tuesday

from KeithKeller · host KeithKeller

Keith discusses "Twitter Tools Tuesday" and one of his favourite tools in the Twitterverse. www.TweepsMap.com Laura: Keith, I have decided that I am officially renaming today. Are you ready? It’s going to be Tool Time Tuesday. Tool Time Tuesday because I’ve heard so many request for people that want to know what type of tools they can use that will enhance their business. So can you please share a tool that you use regularly and why it is that you recommend it? Keith: OK, brilliant. What I’m going to start doing now from this day forward is I’m going to create a hashtag for you Tool Time Tuesday, and every day, I’m going to share this podcast, but I’ll tell you what, I already do something called Twitter Tools Tuesday already. So I’m under this so I think you’re right. A lot of people are really buzzing around the idea of what tools can I use to save me time and what’s the best ones. And I’ll tell you what. This is probably my favorite. I’ll introduce you to this and it’s just brilliant. There’s a site called TweepsMap.com. TWEEPSMAP.com. Now there are… What it does is it match where your tweets are. It matches where your Twitter followers are. And remember I’m the Twitter dude, I want a one-on-one trip money, and the reason why that’s very, very, very, very important is I like I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I can tell you for sure that only 4 percent of my followers are in my town. So if I created a business model round my town, I would be missing out on 96 percent of my potential market. Laura: Yeah, it’s so powerful. Keith: SoTweepsMap.com, which is a free tool and then an upscale in what we call the premium model. It gives you this really amazing decoder. I can tell you for sure, 13 percent of my followers, even astray in total, 57.5 percent of my followers are in the US. I have more followers in California than a whole of Australia. More followers in New York than Melbourne. More followers in Toronto than Sydney. And why is that important? Because if I spent all of my time thinking that my clients were here in a town where I could visit them, well, you know, I’d be missing out on heaps and heaps and heaps of potential other people that are thinking, Keith, I know you’re not in Toronto, but can you send me something? Or if I am this way, come in. I’m happy to have you speak at my conference so let’s get you down to LA, you know. I’ll meet you at the airport, take you out to the pier at Santa Monica. We’ll plan a US tour for you. So TweepsMap.com is an incredible business tool if you’re using Twitter to build a buzz, and remember that’s my role because it tells you what people are, so it helps you decode and put your effort into what’s working, yeah. Laura: Yeah, and I think it’s really important for people to realize the strength, you know. Like you just said, you’ve got a larger percentage of your followers in California than you even do in Australia, so the first thing that I think is time zones. Australia and California, last time I checked, did not have the same time zone. You’re what? I think 15, 14, 15 hours apart. So if you know that, you can change the timing of your tweets to be able to match the audience that you’re trying to address. Keith: And you know the thing I love about TweetsMap, it is such a great tool. As I said, it does have a paid version which goes up the lawn, but it sends you an email. This is amazing. I don’t know if you’re seeing this feature. It sends you an email every week that says this is how many followers you got this week. This is how many people unfollowed you and that’s not so cool, but this is where they’re all at. This is your most popular town and this is your least popular town. So if you’ve got to make a choice, tweet for London this week because there’s a lot of new followers in London and they get me stuff and they’re digging it. And if you’ve got limited time, don’t so much worry about Chicago because there’s not many people there that were listening to you tonight. And isn’t that a useful tool? Laura: Yeah. incredibly useful. You know, as you said earlier, I am totally addicted to it for the same reasons that we just talked about, but definitely, that is a great tool for everybody to go out, use, really incorporate into not only how you market on Twitter, but really how you look at your entire Twitter marketing plan from 50,000 feet above.
