Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evac, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evac, hey girl! And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Hey there, Tweed Trends tribe. Yes, guess what? I'm back.

It has been a while, and I am so sorry that I left you the way that I did. Just left you hanging without an explanation, without anything, but you know what? I had to take care of my mental game, because things in my life just started crumbling around me, and I had to step away. But I'm so glad to be back.

So let me give you a little insight as to where I was, what was crumbling, what was happening. So back last year in July of 18, actually, the last day of June of 18, got a phone call from my sister in the middle of my daughter's birthday party, saying that they didn't think my dad was going to make it through the night. After my daughter's birthday party was over, we packed up the car, we got in there, we got down to South Carolina to see my dad. We didn't get there until maybe two in the morning, but he was sleeping, so we were good.

We got to spend that day with him, and he passed that night the first of July. And that was tough for me. That was really, really tough. That was the first loss that I've had that close to me in a long time.

So I took it hard, but I was doing good. I was bouncing back. Because if you followed me, if you were listening to my podcast, I was still podcasting. I actually did better when I was in South Carolina during that time period than what I had been doing at home.

I could get an episode out like bam, like that, and kept it moving. But when I got back home, things were a little different, and I realized that I was struggling in my day today. But as I started to get better, turn around, and my mom's sister, my aunt passes, and she was like my rock when it came to losing people. She was there when my dad passed.

She was there for me when our son passed. I may not have mentioned that to you guys, but my husband and I, we had a son that he would have turned 10 this past August, but when he was four months old, he passed. And she was my rock when it came to support, and when she left, because we didn't know that she was even sick. So it caught me by surprise, and that was another blow.

That was two months after my dad passed. My dad passed in July. She passed in September. Then two months later, my husband's uncle passes.

Pretty close to him as well. And it's like, damn it, can we catch a break here? And then a couple months after that, guess what? I put my dog down.

Can life get anywhere? It's like really every two months we lost somebody. And it got to the point that in that whole process, in there, is when I stopped podcasting. And it was just that I needed the time for myself.

I needed to try to heal. I started going to counseling. I was working with this really great grief counselor. And she has been working with me throughout to help me figure out what's going on in my head, and my heart, and everything.

And I really feel like I'm in a better place. Why did I share all of this with you? Well, I'm sharing it because, guess what? If you are in a dark space like how I was, guess what?

Take time for yourself. Be good to yourself. Be kind to yourself. Get the help that you need.

Because that guy that was shooting, just killing random people in Odessa, Texas, he was having a bad time. They even said that he had called 911, the place where he worked had called 911. They knew something was wrong. And even in going to his house, they were like, you look around and you could tell this was a troubled person.

So if it's you, if it's a friend, look, listen, use your senses to feel these things out in yourself and in others, and don't be afraid to ask for help. It's okay. Nobody's gonna call you crazy. They're gonna call you crazy for stupid stuff that you do.

They're not gonna call you crazy for getting help because you know that you need it. So that's my pulley. I'm begging you. If any of you are where I was, get yourself some help.

Find someone to talk to. And it's not expensive. You don't even have to pay anything depending on where you go. You can go to a church and guess what?

You don't have to have your own church to go get counseling out of church. Churches love it when you go there. Cause guess what? They're thinking they're gonna get a new parishioner.

You don't have to join their church to get their counseling services, but it's someone to listen to you. So I'm just saying guys, if you need help, ask for help. Cause that's the only way you're gonna get the help that you need. With this being my first day back, you know, I told you about where I've been, what I've been doing, and rather than trying to get into some topics today, I'm just gonna leave you with something to think about.

Well today being the first day of school up here, do me a favor. Say a prayer for the little children going back to school. I say little children are big kids. They go to school too.

Say a prayer for all of the children going back to school, but also remember the teachers today too. Because you know, societal changes have made it critically important that we educate our children. And it's not an easy job. I'm telling you, when you've got 20 to 30 little people running around or big people, I taught high school, so big people, with different personalities and stuff going on in their home life, it can be a very challenging situation, especially if you don't have a supportive administration behind you.

So say a prayer for those teachers too. And rather than criticizing public schools and the teachers, because for some reason, politicians really at large, seem to be the ones that think that that's the fashionable thing to do. We're gonna poke fun at the teachers. We're gonna blame the teachers for everything.

And there are steps way above the teacher that are calling the shots. And it's the trickle down effect. The teachers are having to implement the stuff. And then they're getting blamed for it.

And it's like, you know what? I can't go along with you on that. So rather than criticizing the teachers, try to support them in some kind of way, find a need and help out. See how you can get in there and make it so that educating our children won't be such a difficult task for anyone, whether it be the administrators, the teachers, the custodians from top to bottom inside that school.

Do what you can to try to make sure that the policy abilities offered by the school year are absolutely amazing. Thanks for joining me on Tweet Trends today.
