Welcome. Can you hear that? Yeah. That's sweet morning heat by Jimmy Fallon and Megan Trean.
You couldn't stay away. I couldn't stay away. I needed the music is a little too chill for where I'm at right now. You need to pick me up.
I needed that if you will, sweet morning heat. Yeah. You're like, oh, God, I just wish there were two artists that could come together to reinvigorate my life. Here we go.
I found them. Yeah. We were talking about the movie Unfrosted before we started recording. And if you sign up for the Patreon for $50 a month, we will watch it.
We'll watch it. You have to pay $50. I don't even know if it's set up for you to do that, but that's what I hope not. That is what it's going to take.
Yeah. There's no bad stuff. Bad news. Anyway, welcome to...
And, Sweden. Peek, Peek, Seeks. Dan and Rob. I'm Rob.
Oh, my God, it'll be Dan. We're talking about the game. We're talking about the game. We're talking about the game.
We're talking about the game. We're talking about the game. Rob. Oh, my God, it'll be Dan.
We're talking about part 12 of Twin Peaks the Return, titled, you want to say it? Let's rock. Nice. We're trying not to say let's rob.
Yeah. All right. You did this earlier. Let's just do it again.
You've said this phrase countless times and you've dined out your Marshall label. Yup. Say it every morning when I wake up. Did a...
Did like a US president say let's rock at some point? They were going to bomb a village somewhere in the Middle East and someone was like let's rock. Oh, wow. But it was a good thing.
Everyone was talking about a good thing. Yeah, everybody was super into it. I don't know. Oh, you know what I'm thinking of?
What? It's not that at all. I feel bad that that's where I started. Flight 93 or whatever.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. That someone said it before they took back the plane. Is that?
High Jackers. That was what it was. It was let's rock. Was it?
Let's roll. Oh, okay. So this is totally original material from David Lanch and Mark Frost. Obviously September 11th.
Bad. A day that will live in infamy. Yeah. But just that one guy being like, you know, he was on the phone with like family, I guess, right?
And that's that was those were like his last words and the last words that they heard and say was just like, you know, let's roll. And now, you know, years, decades later, we're like, I was like, let's roll on the plane. Honestly? Kind of sick.
I mean, to have the presence of mind to be like, it's fucking, you know, I'm going to drop a sweet line before it all goes down. He yippy-ki ate his way off the mortal coil. Absolutely. For that, we commend him.
Yeah. I think about the time that I saw a bear in real life and when or where? When? A couple years ago, Paige and I took like a little trip to the Poconos and we had like a fire going in a fire pit like next to the place we were saying.
When you say bear, you mean a big hairy man? That's right. Okay. I knew exactly what to do.
So it was us and Bert and like Bert sees the Bert's dog. Yeah. He sees the bear and starts freaking out. Yeah.
We hold him back and we just see like the eyes, right? Like the night mass vampire style. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Flance style. And we're like trying to calm him down and I'm like, holy shit, holy shit.
Okay. I think you're supposed to like make yourself big and like make noise. Yeah. Yeah.
So the arms go up. Yeah. And I go, ah, real weak, real treble. Sure.
Upper register. Not super confident. And the bear just kind of looks at me and then like does the bear version of just like shaking his damn head just walks over to the garbage and starts eating the garbage. That's all I want.
I like this buffoon. Yeah. Look at this buffoon. Oh, but look at this buffet.
Pics the trash can lid starts using it as a tray. A lunch tray. It just starts picking things out. That's right.
Apple core skeleton. Yeah. It's in can open empty. Got it.
Okay. Old boot. I'll eat that. Twin Peaks part 12 lets rock.
Let's rock. Yeah. Dare I say we're getting into the home stretch here. This episode kind of it feels like a I think this episode is a little slow.
I'm going to say it out of all of the episodes. I feel like most of them are like they're always moving and like there's a lot going on. And I think part of that is because of part of the reason it feels low to me. I think is all the Audrey stuff later on.
Those scenes I know that's like the point but they are impossible. Yeah. They are so frustrating. It's pretty frustrating stuff.
Again, it's like it does feel like Dave sort of rubbing the fan service. Yeah. Enthusiasts knows in it. Absolutely.
It's like, oh, you want Audrey? Audrey's back. Guess what? She's arguing with this guy you've never met about people you've vaguely heard of I think once at this point.
Yes. And also you're never going to see the people they're talking about. Right. Also, yeah, this is going we're going to get more of this.
And by the way, there's going to be no conclusion to it. Zero payoff at all. But we'll get to that later. Of course, of course, of course.
To a later of course forever. Yeah. I think that it seems slow too because it's not like the feeling that happens. No, things are totally.
It did feel slow. I also like, as you know, I watched ahead. And so I'm rewatching and like this was a tough rewatch. Yeah.
Even though, I mean, like you get like some Sarah Palmer stuff which feels very important at this point. Definitely. I like this stuff with, you know, the first scene with like Gordon and our FBI agents, right? I like all that stuff.
The scene, you know, where the beautiful French woman. Yeah, with the beautiful French woman leaving. She is so funny. She was killing me.
There's like a moment where she like goes to start putting her lipstick on and then has to like stop and check it before she does it. It's like, it's like silent film slapstick kind of, yeah, really good stuff. Yeah. And she is just some French lady for real.
Yeah. I mean, she's an actor, but to me, she'll always be just some French lady. Oh, she's in Skyfall. Oh, well, who does she play in Skyfall?
Severine. Ever heard of her? No. Yeah.
I watched Skyfall in a while. I should get back. I think I've seen it exactly once. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, well, here's what I'll say. Yeah. Mad props to David Lynch for seemingly once an episode just finding the most beautiful woman in the world.
I'm going to say continually upping the ante. It's insane. I do. Yeah.
It is just very funny to be like because you watch these movies, you see them in interviews. You're like, this isn't like a horny guy. But he is. He's a horny guy.
He's the horniest guy in the world. Yeah. But he's attracted to beautiful women. He's one of those weirdos.
He's a, it does seem like a simple man in so many ways. Right. My fetish is beautiful women. Beautiful French women.
Very funny. Well, okay. So you mentioned the first scene. Yeah.
Well, let's talk about it. We're in Buckhorn. We're in Buckhorn. Our FBI agents are having a nice Bordeaux after a long day of work.
And Gordon and Albert have sat Tammy down and Gordon has adjusted the levels on his hearing aid so he doesn't have to yell because this is hush hush kind of stuff that they're going to talk about. And Albert goes into the whole kind of like the whole background of the Blue Rose, Blue Rose Task Force as it was. You know, he says Project Blue Book, which was a government program in reality, was all about our government's investigation into UFOs and then it was shut down at a certain point with the conclusion like UFOs are of no concern to anyone and whatever. And then Albert is like, so obviously, you know, we had to put together a task force to look into these things.
Right. They are a problem. We just can't talk about it like that. Right.
And the Blue Rose, Blue Rose specifically is a reference to, you know, some sort of a supernatural case where Blue Rose was the dying words of this woman. Lois Duffy, who is it giving up? And she's already been mentioned. It turns out she gets mentioned in.
Oh wait. No, sorry. I had the episode number wrong. I was looking at the wiki.
She comes up again. Okay. Yeah. So do they explain?
No, they don't explain what happened with her. That's right. Common. So I won't say it.
Yeah. Right. Right. Like in a future episode, we find out like exactly sort of what happens with that, right?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then, you know, Albert goes into, uh, starts talking about the Blue Rose Task Force and how, you know, it's Gordon and him and was, uh, Philip Jeffries and, uh, oh, what the fuck was Chris Isaac's name?
God help me. Yeah. Chester Desmond. You know, I say God help me, but that is the coolest name in the world.
I know. It's a great name. Uh, Jeffries and then of course, uh, Cooper, right? And, uh, then I can't remember if it's Albert or Gordon, but they're like, uh, you know, three of these men have disappeared.
Um, so you'll understand the hesitation, uh, about bringing any, but any new blood into the fold. Um, but then they're like, we, we would like you to join the Blue Rose Task Force to, uh, Tammy, uh, especially in Tammy Preston. And she accepts, which I was excited for. Yeah.
Isn't that what that's on the promotion, girl? Yeah. And isn't that what anybody wants is just like, uh, if you're in promotion, if you work for the FBI, you want to be put on the X files or the Blue Rose Task Force or something. Something interesting.
Yeah. It's, it's like, uh, it's like in so I married next murder where he's like, I never got to hang off that part of the helicopter. You know, you know, that other part. Yeah.
I know the part. It's exactly like that. You don't want me to do a paperwork your whole life. No, you want to be, uh, you want to be set up in Boulder or something.
That's right. That's why you went to Quantico. I want to go. I want to go.
Uh, yeah. I mean, that's what I mean, obviously, like right as, as for me, at least as a kid, you're watching like the X files specifically and like, oh, these guys, this is what the FBI is. They're just like investigating Bigfoot and the like. And then you know, you look into it a little bit further and you're like, oh, they were just killing people.
They were just killing Bigfoot. They were just killing political figures and, uh, Rebel Raushers and, uh, yeah. All these other like dark. Cast stands too, by the way.
What's that? We're killing, uh, you know, political agitators. They're not doing it anymore. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Not for, uh, not for like a couple of years now. For like two years now.
Not for like two years. They have one of those boards that's like, you know, day since day since someone committed suicide in an exploding car. Yeah. Oh, man.
Speaking of it, did you, uh, did you watch any of that Boeing, uh, CEO in front of Congress there? No, he burping. Is he burping his ass off? Yeah.
He looks like he's got some indigestion. Yeah. The, uh, I don't know whoever the fuck it was, but he, they were like, what is, so you, uh, it looks like, uh, last year you gave yourself a 40% raise. And he just like, he just stands there suddenly per second and then lunges over the podium to try to strangle the person who has that.
Sorry. I mean, uh, yes. Yeah, yeah, exactly. The guy's just like, so what do you do?
And he's like, well, I run the company and he's like, uh, but like, what do you do? Um, and you know, whatever goes into all the people that are making, uh, they got 1% raises that are actually doing the work and yada yada. And then they're like, and, uh, you know, doesn't really pay off to be a whistleblower now. Huh?
They asked him about it. Uh, they didn't like go like super deep into it. Um, uh, but there were people out in like the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, I don't know the audience that they just, they had like, they had like cardboard signs and shit that they were like, you know, referencing the, the, you know, the trail of bodies, uh, lead to the entrance to this press conference. Exactly.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a, uh, just a, uh, a trail of dead leading right up to Boeing's front door.
It's pretty wild, pretty wild stuff. Of course, this is all alleged. It's all alleged. I don't want to, I think Boeing is a great company and they should see great company and their planes stay together in the air.
Yeah. Uh, I don't think there's anything wrong with those two astronauts being stuck on that space station right now. It seemed like, you know, uh, by the time they like it. That's their whole deal is like, well, what are we paying you for if you're not up on a space station?
Yeah. If you've got time to lean, you've got time to be trapped in the international space station. Oh man. So funny to have like, you know, over the course of the past year, just like planes are falling apart and tours are flying off and shit.
And then they're like, well, we got this space station thing going on and then we send up some, some astronauts are like, well, that broke too. So that's got to be, uh, what a feeling that must be. It's like to be traveling space space station. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. It's like the feeling of like your car breaking down. If it were in outer space, right?
You're like, I can't even like wave anybody down for a ride to a phone or something. I can't, I can't walk back. Yeah. This is it.
Yeah. You'd have to be one of those like Red Bull guys, you know, how like a, there's always like a crazy stunt sponsored by Red Bull where they're like skydives from space. Yeah. They do one of those halo jumps.
Is that what it's called? Yeah. It's like high altitude low, uh, I think low open is a, it was what it stands for. It's like those like altitude low open.
Yeah. Where they like, you know, they, they jumped from like a super high point and then don't open their shoot until like the last second. Crazy. Yeah.
I mean, these guys, these guys fucking guys are fucking guys everywhere. They're falling out of damn sky. Um, so you're doing that. You got here with a big thing of airplane poo on the way down on the way down.
On the way down. It just like hits you. Yeah. I mean, yeah.
Well, one of those Joe dirt airplane poos Joe dirt is, I think, I don't want to get it. It's funny. I think it's a funny movie. I'm a watch it in a real long time, but I remember being a funny movie.
I can't remember even the first thing about Joe dirt. Oh, I got the, oh, he got the pool on him. He got the pool on him. That is funny.
He got the pool on him and the dogs balls get stuck to the porch. That's what I remember. Hilarious. Pretty good.
Get the spatula. Anyway, blue rose cases, blue rose case, Sammy Preston, uh, she's in. She's in and then they call Diane in right. Diane shows up, whatever.
Yeah. And we know that like Albert and Gordon are onto her. You know, they know she's up to something. She's in communicado with someone.
But, you know, in an effort to, as Cole put it, keep her close. Yes. They sort of appoint her as an official, they like, deputizer. Yeah.
Into the investigation. Yeah. And that's when she says the titular line. Yeah.
Let's rock. Let's rock. Let's rock. Smash cut.
Jerry Horn in the woods. Not much more to say about that. I feel like this episode has a lot of, uh, a lot of repeaters. A lot of things that we've seen already in previous episodes, but it's just sort of like, we're just reiterating.
We're just, you know, kind of going back, right? So yes, Jerry is lost, very lost in the woods. Which I think like, uh, you know, Sarah's thing about like things being like slightly different. Yeah.
Right. That all feels very thematic with this. Sure. The same things repeating.
And also with Audrey talking to her husband where they just keep seemingly saying the same thing over and over again with different words. Yeah. Yeah. It's like the slight permutations on things.
So yeah, from Jerry, we do go to Sarah who's buying $130 worth of vodka and cigarettes. And as the cashier, the cashiers are both like teenagers and as she's being rung up, she has like sort of a look on her face and asks about the jerky behind a counter. She says, has that always been there? And she's like, well, no, it's new for over the last couple of weeks.
They just got, she says, what kind is it? It says it's turkey, it's not made from beef. Right. She asks if it's smoked and it says that it's smoked right on the pack.
Yeah. What are we doing? But then things start getting kind of funky, a little funky fresh with Sarah talks about. That's exactly how I would describe it with Sarah.
Thank you for asking. Yeah. Yeah. She's quirk up for sure.
She's talking about how things can change, but in like sort of a dire way. She's like, things can change. Yeah. And there are men coming, you know, watch out for that.
You got to watch out for that. And then she runs out. Well, yeah. Any of her vodka.
Yeah, she runs out without, right. She has, she paid already, but she doesn't take any of her things. She starts having like a full sort of breakdown in the store and then she starts, she starts saying like, like, get your keys, get out of here, like kind of whatever, like under her breath. And then yes, she does take off.
And then one of the kids, you have encounters like, I know where she lives. Like I could bring, you know, this stuff to her or whatever. Then like, you know, we get that seat. Yeah.
I mean, what do you think of it? She's in a convenience store, not the convenience store. Yes. Well, I guess it's a liquor store.
Uh huh. She's good. How convenient $130 worth of vodka. Just what I needed.
I was going to say something about convenience stores generally, but it maybe doesn't apply here. We get that that scene with Carl, right? Carl Rod with two D's. Where he's talking to one of the residents of the trailer park and he does sort of like, can't you see the blood donor center?
Oh, maybe. Or maybe I'm making that up. Maybe I can just see it in my mind's eye because of my vivid imagination, my creative type of mind. Yes.
But yes, one of the guys there, he's like, he's an older guy, he's got cane and shit. And Carl stops him and he's like, you know, he finally, whatever. Basically, this guy has been selling blood for money. And Carl was like, you know, just don't worry about the rent this month.
Like you don't have to pay this month. And next time you're like selling blood to pay for things, like let me know. I don't want to. People shouldn't have to sell blood to buy food.
Right. It's a good guy. You know? It's a pretty good guy.
I like that sort of every like ecosystem, there's like a good guy. Yeah. Crazy world to imagine where the guy in charge is a good guy. Yeah.
Yeah. The landlord of this place. The landlord of the trailer park is not exploiting people. Right.
Both Sheriff Truman's are good guys. Yeah. That's cool. A man.
Yeah. But that, I mean, that's, you know, that's the whole scene there. And we go to the Palmer residence where Hawk is pulling up and knocks on the door and he's talking to Sarah. And Sarah's like, he comes by.
He comes by, he's like, he says that, you know, it has something to do with like open, like, five. Yeah. He's going through files or something. And he says, we're opening up some old cases and I thought of you, you know, blah, blah, blah.
And then she's like, this is about what happened to the liquor store, isn't it? He's like, I'm just making sure you're okay. Yeah. We also, we have barely, I'm realizing we have almost no Cooper in this one.
No doggy. No doggy. I mean, one crucial scene. Yeah, one quick doggy scene.
This, so Sonny James sort of like walks Cooper out to the yard with their boat. Both wearing baseball gloves. Yes. Sonny Jim throws the ball at Cooper from a few feet away.
Yeah. Ball just hits him, bounces off. That's it. That's all.
Yes. Yeah. You're right. And then we get the Hawk, Sarah scene.
Do you think if we played catch? Uh huh. This is exactly how we go. Yeah.
You just stay in there. Yeah. You're throwing heat and I'm like, taking, taking 70 to the gut. The scene though, with the Hawk and Sarah, right, like Sarah is, she's, she's, you know, she's not doing great, you know.
In the scene though, there's a noise that comes from the kitchen and like, Sarah sort of like straightens up real quick and talks like somebody in there and she's like, you know, that's just something in the kitchen, right? If you, if you listen, right, it sounds like whatever, like things sort of rattling around like dishes or whatever, but there's also an electricity sound. Oh. Electricity.
Uh huh. The, the, the powerful force we call electricity. Yeah. Um, what do you make of that?
I don't know. Um, it's based on, you know, not to jump ahead, but like based on where Sarah sort goes here, it seems like she, uh, is dealing with some demons. Uh, for real. Yeah.
I think that, I think that's fair to say. Right. Like, uh, maybe, you know, maybe the demons are just trauma, but, um, well, it's like, you think about it. Cause like, so one of the, one of the details that's like really emphasized in this is the ceiling fan, which is sort of like an old friend at the Palmer residence and conveys also like a terrible sense of dread and menace despite just being a ceiling fan.
Um, but there is like, I mean, that is sort of, it feels a lot like foreshadowing to me that like everyone else is out of the house and there's still these like motifs of, of, you know, dread and despoting. Yeah. So it's a bit interesting, isn't it? So actually I, this seems like a good opportunity to bring up something, uh, from the Patreon comments.
Okay. Um, I can't remember if we talked, it talked about it on the free half of the, um, impossible to know. Episode eight, the, the atomic bomb episode, uh, someone and God forgive me. I can't remember who it was.
Uh, said that the like the bug frog thing. Oh yeah. Yeah. They were like, I always thought that was like an evil entity, possibly Bob, sure himself.
And we had sort of talked about it as like, that was the, that came from the orb that the giant sends to earth. Right. That's what we, what do you think about that? Um, I mean, it was day gone by the way.
There you go. Um, what up? Yeah. Uh, you know, not sure.
Um, yeah, it does. It would, I think it would make sense if it was some sort of evil thing. It says half frog, you have bug thing that just crawls into her mouth. It's tough cause it's like frogs.
Good bugs bad. Yeah. Bugs very bad. Um, I saw somebody online, uh, point out the fans.
Yeah. It was somebody, uh, it was this, uh, you know, like nude e-girl. I was, you know, a nude e-girl nude e-girl. You were looking at one of the nude e-girls wasn't you?
Yeah. I don't know. J.O.I.s. She was, uh, uh, going into theories about- What told you about, yeah, go ahead.
Uh, uh, uh, Twin Peaks. Yeah. No, somebody online pointed out that like, uh, uh, when we, when we see the woodsman, um, there's like, we hear like this electricity sound. Um, so maybe, maybe she's got, you know, that house is infested with woodsman, you know?
It's kind of seaman that way. But it's like, why? Why are they so drawn to therapy? I mean, why were they, uh, maybe that, maybe that bug frog thing is some sort of a, uh, almost like a, like a homing device for creeps and weirdos and freaks and sleazoid burnouts.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
It's lots, uh, uh, bloods, waste-oids, tweeves. Uh, yeah. I mean, it's like, God, there's so much I want to say about what happens with Sarah. Yeah.
We'll say when it happens. All right. All right. Yes.
So for now we'll play down and we'll say perhaps perhaps it's a homing beacon. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so that, so we got that, right?
And then she's, what did she say? She like, like, nashes her teeth together. Um, and then she said, it says something about like, it's a bad story or something like that. And Hawkes is like, okay, I'm just gonna say.
Yeah. It's sort of how he always reacts when someone says something totally obtuse. Yeah. I mean, Hawkes is a pretty cool customer when it comes to all this shit.
You know, when, uh, yeah, he's getting calls from the log lady every night. Yeah. Being like the place where you're going has fire. It's like, okay.
Okay, Margaret, have a good night. Have a good night. Uh, what do you say we take a little break? Oh, all right.
And then when we come back, we will teach you how to shovel your way out of the shit. Two coats. All right. Uh, you guys, if you want to continue listening, of course, head on over to patreon.com slash kingy pod.
You can hear the rest of these twin peaks episodes and then you get bonus content every other Friday. Uh, last Friday, we talked Pratita Durango, AKA dance with the devil. Dance with the devil. Um, wild, weird, wild stuff.
