hell of a season down over here but rob uh... sorry i i i just came across my desk as we were starting and that's for that's that's is that is important is anything else without a and you i've seen you uh... yelling at page telling her to get to all of the most up to date news on the seventy sixers and yet to be clear no matter what you're doing to always keep you up to date what happened is that page was like clutching a piece of paper like in for like up to a chest and taking short shuffling steps in high heels and like issues were a pencil skirt and stuff yeah and she was sort of silently placed it on my desk and i like looked at her caps as she was walking out whoa what looking at her games as a get back to your typewriter pencils in her hair and everything a lot of them that like like a twenty thirty pencils just taking over here are you stealing all of us as a player uh... that irreconcilable differences on on you know she's been embezzling pencils for me no this is not an nd a podcast we're gonna talk about a different kind of forward today we're gonna talk about moving forward through the twin-piece the return to episode thirteen get also known as sometimes referred to as what story is that charlie uh...
what is going on over there huh over where with poor Audrey oh man it is dark stuff dark stuff with Audrey you hate to see it the oddry stuff i'm just gonna call it now we can we'll talk about it when we talk about it i mean i'm calling it but like my read on it is like david lynch shoehorn like a david lynch feature into this series yeah like she's living out like a like a whole other movie perone like moholl holland drive inland empire sort of mental breakdown that is what it seems like yeah i know uh... i think it was jeff listener jeff who had pointed out that like seems like all three is getting the short shrift here story-wise yeah i i i i agree i mean i wish there was like as as sort of and we talked about how kind of like trying yeah it was to watch that scene play out in the first episode like went on for fucking ever yes but i feel like they're doing a little with a lot with her i wish there was more of her cuz uh... she's pretty scraped out of course uh... i mean yeah i've heard like you know you hear things around the show or whatever and it's just like you know there was as there's talk that like she didn't want to come back there was some sort of conflict between them whatever and then you know seemingly it all got settled you know there are other people that uh...
you know had conflicts with him and didn't come back you know right so whatever you know david lincoln uh... charlin finn had you know between them whatever conflict was seems to have been worked out but yeah i don't know it's it's you just after season one in two you know when we we spent so much time with Audrey and she was like you know she did that whole thing where she went like in quotations undercover that one i jacks and then she got trapped there you know she was like uh... in love with agent cooper and all of that kind of stuff you just don't want to see it and this way for you don't you don't but it also feels like incredibly true to the character right and that's the other thing to it was like this is not what we want this is the story that is being presented to us so right now not fancy that i'd not to make it about uh... something else no one cares about again but it does feel like so i don't know so you know like i'm sorry always talk about the talk about the whole study for thirty second and say all that shit all those songs i mean like from like you know they sort of like got back together recently or whatever but all those original albums all about like partying stuff and like living really close to the sun yeah then you get to like the new iteration and like the kreg fin solo stuff and it's all about like those same characters but as like adults like in their thirties and forties or and it's like that feels very similar to what's happening here where she's just like she you know she was like a rich kid and she's like smart and you know wants to be worldly and i think like ultimately she's lived in a hotel her whole life and yeah and so like when she actually goes out into the world it kind of gets the better of her is what seems like happened i mean she also got blown up in a bank explosion right which set her back i'm sure it's the kind of thing that sets you back i've been set back when i was younger i was a slo-d-o-nade no yeah i mean yes uh from also like some of the uh the ancillary materials the the rott uh not robert for us robert for us the robert for us poems about ottry the mark frost uh books uh i think going to a look that filling the gaps basically between you know season two and the return and what ottry you know was up to and basically there was like a falling out with her and her father and she like went out on her own and she may have had uh with the kids today we call a mentee bee a mentee bee do they call it that yeah you're more plugged into the youth culture than i am listen i hang out a lot of high schools all right i know it's good i think despite the best efforts of local law and more very plugged into youth culture that's right um mentee bee that's fun yeah it's like cardi it's like cardi bee but it's a mentee which of course is short for uh cardinal bonafacio uh a high-ranking member of the catholic clergy that's the only card cardi bee i'm worried about yeah she had a mentee bee she went a little delulu and now and she uh the only other one i know is when they say sewer slide what is that it's like suicide so lag by tiktok yeah or you know unalived unalived herself or self-deleted or whatever other tricky words because you can't yeah i think the shame of her uh the shame of her the shame of her of this woman yeah now the shame of the shame with Audrey here is that we don't get more of her more context for her on screen it's just like it's like just tragic and and confusing but i mean very effective in like getting across where she's at no it is it's just it just is one of those things like uh something else i think we're gonna talk about in this episode maybe a little later on with big ed and norma is just like i just wish things were different for these two totally you know and you're just like i just wish some things had worked out for some of these people that i really liked yeah but you know that's that's what life is baby it's a kick in the teeth every morning so sometimes you're married to the withholding guy with a nice study and uh sometimes you got the you got the green rubber dish glove life deals us all a different hand right nope you're right it's coming up yeah yeah so we didn't meet that guy already the dish glove guy dish glove guy yeah for like a second yeah he was yeah at the road house he was hanging out with uh his buddy James Hurley his mentor yeah he's early preposterous yep anyway yeah let's uh let's really let's dig in here let's get our hands into this um we open up in one of i think it's one of our favorite things to see in any sort of media a conga line a conga line yes we're as we talked it's a sort of a bygone yeah we were just talking about this with uh with the movie jack Francis word copolis jack yes um which by the way uh the new the new trailer for megalopolis uh just uh came out like a day or so ago looks interesting i gotta say i'm like i'm on south land tails i'm so sure like i'm so sure it's self-lantails like i'm just so on board for like Francis word copolo who is like of obviously like this much older generation uh but the guy looks like he's taking like a huge fucking swing in a weird direction which like most guys his age are not doing they're like you know they're focusing on their legacy they're they're wrapping up the overarching story of their career somehow you know boring self-mythologizing just keep making stuff just keep making stuff and i just i just dig away that like uh copola he's like i put all of my money into my personal money my wine money i put my liquidated my wine uh i put my vineyard up as collateral for this movie because i just i because frankly the wine's not even that good it's no no great loss yeah no great loss if you ask me um i must remember to ask you about that uh but yeah uh very excited for that and then uh of course jack hat opens with a conga line um maybe that's where you know david lynch got the idea to open this episode with a conga line uh from movie jack i got it also say uh um that music that plays yeah whatever that little song is uh so fucking cool i meant to look this up do you know anything about that little bit of music i don't know anything about it i i imagine that it's you know uh what's the name angelo uh but other than day uh maybe it feels so like glitchy and modern let's see is it is it uh is it uh um can be now it can't be i think it's just it must just be like original music for the scene like it's just part of the score but right i love it so much it's like you just want to be in a conga line i want to be in a modern conga line uh where we groove to things in like i don't know seven five time uh just grooving of things in seven five um so yeah our con who's in our con yeah that's so we got uh of course we have candy and uh the two other um cocktail uh not cocktail waitresses cocktail uh i mean they're almost like statues they're just like beautiful women that hang out around the uh the uh micham brothers right we which are present in our conga line we got Rodney and uh it goes it's boy girl boy girl it goes Rodney right one of the one of the three girls possibly candy uh doggy aka del cooper one of the girls and then of course the other one yeah what it's uh what something a bit odd i can never remember his name yeah it well so there's yeah and it's Bradley Jesus Christ Rodney and Bradley i guess that's not odd at all i think what's odd is that he doesn't look like his name is Bradley yeah his his he looks like his name is jimballushi and his name in the show is Bradley oh he's Bradley i thought the other one was Bradley no well the other one doesn't look like Rodney he looks Italian frankly no offense not to cast his virgins on anyone but he's he's a bit italiano coated so they come in dancing and now you know we know that uh what is the mr.
uh winkeys who runs the casino there um he had told Tom Sizemore he's like once you you set up doggy you send him out you know and tell him that you know he's the one responsible for their money and all this stuff then the brothers mitcham will murder doggy and that'll be that and then you'll be off the hook but if they don't then times Sizemore you have to kill doggy and Tom Sores he's just an insurance agent here he's just not a murderer no one's ever been so deep in over their head oh my god so he sets up doggy to be murdered by the mitchams and when he sees doggy in a conga line with the mitchams whoa boy he hides behind his desk yes very funny i don't know what he thinks is gonna happen in that moment but oh god oh god he just you can't even bear to look at uh basically yeah he's just seeing like a day into the future on this thing yeah um yeah so they go into gushinels office and they're very excited um they bring him they bring bushnell uh some gifts right some cufflinks uh yep some cubins some nichigars and a car a BMW convertible to match dougies that's right um candy gets to give the gifts to she's so excited again it's so she's so good yeah i do you remember that actor's name she's irish is all i know uh Sullivan i believe uh actually no well uh any shields is her name uh of course supposed her game would be being irish she actually irish or make that up yeah she is okay um but yeah she's just sort of like and to be clear she's from ireland that which is that's what dan is getting at yeah i'm not he's not just being like oh she's that irish broad right yeah i'm not being like yeah she's uh well yeah her family 60% irish 40% touch 10% concentrated power of will right 20% reason to remember the name um yes candy uh the actress is irish um we've spent too much time talking about candy and Amy shills is that what i said her name is yeah that's my name all right good uh good short-term recall on your boy uh so um they also bring to dougie to the jones residence uh a frickin a gym set for sunny gym because every kid should have a gym set of course they say repeatedly and a new car yes to match bushnells of course of course um also though yeah uh while he's crouched behind his desk anthony synclaire calls dunk and thod uh to be like he's i don't know what happened uh jeez mr thod i'm so sorry i don't know what happened they're they're in a conga line now and then yeah and dunk and thod he says well you know what's gonna happen now you know what's got to happen we talked about oh geez oh god let me at least say it you got to kill dougie or something oh god yeah all right okay do this off offline do it on your own time that's right Anthony um so yes uh then we cut over to the farm where ray was traveling after he got the drop on doppelg you watch this dan because i thought this would really uh tickle you oh absolutely yeah i mean it's such a good like yeah they make it sound you know it's got like the same uh sort of understated ominous quality is like the shop right yeah oh god what happens at the farm and it turns out it's just 20 weird guys basically it's just like a big it's like a tree house made of concrete they're just like it's very much like that so dougie shows up right there's like a well not uh doppelgruber not doppelgruber mr doppelgruber mr bob doppelgruber uh he shows up in the garage and there's like 20 guys standing around looking at a screen the size of like uh like a movie screen yeah it's enormous it's yeah it's but it's like just playing the the cctv footage of the garage and ray is like um he's like that's the guy i thought i killed yeah blah blah he's like and he's saying this to uh the actor is Derek mirrors and Derek mirrors is um he's big he's like six six he's like jack dude he's played like uh um he was in uh the remake uh right of the thirteenth he played like Jason right he's like that kind of uh uh a big he's big but like he's big but like i could take him in an armlessly match them i think so i don't know yeah so his character is Renzo um they they let they let Cooper into like into meet with them and it's like yeah ray and Renzo and then all these henchmen and wait is that when you were you know there's like a group of guys there and they all look like you know various like criminal types you know they're just sort of have a you know grungy look about them whatever and then of course there's one guy and then there's just one nerd right in the middle just one guy with one do we be looking guy with glasses um i think is it in the next episode that they're like you're the money guy they like identify him as like the bookkeeper yeah well yeah in this in this episode um he before he like everybody leaves a room or whatever he'd ask the apocupers like do you need any money and oh right and he's like no all right and then he lives in my work here is done exactly um it's nice if i'm not offered yeah so they bring him in and this guy this fuck it the guy who's all the talking what's his name muddy muddy no no with an m muddy muddy oh that's even better yeah yeah these all like the vibe of all these guys are like weekend like motorcyclist guy where they're like pretending to be like they're just such a fake they seem so fake yes um yeah they're all yes they're all that like they're they don't seem like professional criminals or anything they seem like you know just guys they what they seem like is guys that were hanging out at bar that challenged somebody to an armlessly right 100 um and then i yeah okay i want to get too deep into the the structure of criminality here i do want to talk about that because i think that's such an interesting layer to it but yeah basically muddy lays down the ground rolls he's like that big guy's our boss and he's our boss because he's the yeah wait go ahead go ahead no just the like the whole thing with muddy explaining that this guy's our boss is like wait what is the business structure what are you boss of what what is what are you guys boss yeah but it's like you know when you you're watching movie and there's like some underling he's like yeah you're a short thing they're boss yeah it's like that um it's like that except just like transposed into like quote unquote reality so it all just seems as stupid as possible and straight up is just like he's like he's our boss because no one can beat him at arm wrestling that is why he's in charge that's right um which is yeah it's like yeah so this is muddies uh whole explanation he's like this man is our boss because no one can beat him in arm wrestling imagine all the men who've tried many many in 14 years no one has ever no one has ever even come close any new guy it gets one chance one chance if you lose rinsos your boss so you can leave now if you stay and lose and you don't do what rinsos says you die so you decide you stay and play it's your choice uh looking at you i'd say you'd better leave and then double blue says what is this kindergarten nursery school so they go off they go off they go what do i get if i win and then muddies like you'll be our boss oh yeah and goobers like i don't want to be your boss it really is like this whole thing feels so like from doppelcoopers perspective where it's just like the trifling games that men play the mortal men yes they're so locked into the like the rigidity of like the rules they've set for themselves yes like none of them has ever thought to shoot rinso yeah of course because he's just he's the big strong guy he's a boss he's a head taller than them so he's the boss it's incredible um yeah so they go down to the arm wrestling area there's an area for it and as they're walking over rinso sucker punches uh doppelcooper in the back of the head and he says that was for the nursery school teacher mmm so he's a moral man i'm a principal sure this is rinso we're talking about here's a leader of men he's a leader of 20 men so they sit down again muddy is like calling out like the the rules of arm wrestling like any of this matters right and they engage and rinso gets cooper like almost down at the table and then they just get stuck there yes cooper then says starting position and resets to the middle yep and that happens like a couple times he's like and then he goes starting position he's like he's like i didn't like how uncomfortable my arm was when you had it down here and he lowers it back down to where they were and he goes i find this much more comfortable put some at starting position and then he's kind of just like um when you agree that this is more uncomfortable like bends his arm down and he goes and then when it's down here it's quite uncomfortable um so he beats him or whatever and then he punches him so hard in the head that his whole head caves in yes face caves in crushes his skull rinsos dead yep i mean it's hard to believe right he's this is rinso we're talking about it sort of felt like uh in a rest of development when Tobias is in jail and he talks white power bob into jumping off the balcony there and they're like dorothy killed white power bob dorothy's in charge now hey wizard of us exactly what do you think of that oh by great nothing i think i really i think he just said um yeah so god i rinsos dead i didn't even know he was sick and so cooper asks to be left alone with ray that was those were the terms he's like if i win i want ray yeah so ray of course tries to you know go for a gun and shoot cooper get shot in the leg and then or so i do like this raise like can we talk about this as he's reaching for the gun yeah cooper shoots and he goes now we can talk so basically ray just like tells him everything he knows about why he was trying to kill doppelcooper what you know the whole situation right who hired you right and he says some guy named philip jeffries jeffries wanted me to kill you um he also because there's something inside him that they want yes yeah um and uh he also said to put this ring on you know at third you're dead it's the ring we've we stay seeing yes it's the it's a signet on it yes and uh yeah i i i like this i mean we get a little bit more of a uh background on what that ring is all about right i mean uh it's like a uh it is like this homing beacon kind of a thing from the black lodge so like whoever is wearing it is like in tune with the black lodge but also um what happens here is uh doppelcooper tells ray to put the ring on which he does and then cooper shoots ray in the head killing him and then um you know ray ends up in the black lodge it's like a first uh first class ticket to the black lodge to get that ring on yeah um yeah the so the ring which is where which is where ray fucked up last time he shot and killed him but then all those grimy woodsmen came out and smeared blood around and ray was like i'm too scared to put the ring on him i'm getting out of here can you blame him that's also uh how you get your skull crushed that's true he had time though he could have slipped down probably but this is why ray is a bit of an idiot right yeah it's like this whole like um inter-dimensional sort of whatever is happening here yeah it's like fight between good and evil in this world it all comes down to just like brute criminality and just like the dumbest guys you've ever seen yeah i mean the this they're in this like fucking tree house here like you said like guys are just like this goes my boss bigger than me so he's my boss yeah so he also mentions um the coordinates he mentions the coordinates um which he has written down he gives that to cooper before cooper shoots him he also mentions uh cooper asks where jeffries is now and he says he's at a place called the dutch mens yeah and he said and yeah uh that's when he's like um he says some it raises something like he's at some place called the dutch mens but i don't know where that is and then he double cooper shoots him and he's like i know what it is and and then yeah he's the coordinates lead to uh these are the coordinates that we've seen with uh uh our fbi agents uh col and albert and diane we've been talking about this the whole damn time we're going to a peace the whole time the whole time daniel daniel journey the whole time i can i tell you by the way yeah as a hangout with some friends uh and someone said the whole time uh we all we all just slipped into it we all need to do it really it happened before oh that's that's good one the whole time the whole time time she should have gotten the oscar should have been saying it um so that's that's everything at the farm right um and then from there uh we go to um what we do we see are uh detective the three detective brothers right and they they run the detectives fusco fusco fusco fusco fusco we're back in i lost a loss of aegis by the way oh i i call it lost wages oh me too oh okay i call it that too uh yeah they they run the prince uh on uh on dougie jones and uh they get hit with uh an fbi agent and also a guy that was arrested in septacota so like obviously the database has been corrupted somehow and this is garbage information so they like crumple it up and throw it away and have a good laugh about it um we get a there's a quick scene of hutch and shantal in driving to lost wages talking about mormons and how they uh they're not allowed to drink but they can marry you they can't even drink coca cola no not even coca cola um but they can marry like six to ten women as wet hutch says yeah six to ten uh-huh and he's like i wonder what the more people aren't mormon or she says that and then he's like it must be the drinking um again just yeah cream of the crop here great stuff running these these criminal rackets and i think jenn you think oh you think i think it's break time oh you think i'm gonna well rob then it must be break time oh i guess it's break time oh man is it if big man thinks it's break time you're bigger than me so you're the boss you're taller than me say you're the boss you probably be in an arm wrestling niche i don't know weak i have weak little arms i've got i've got like they call like smokers arms or whatever because i'm not smoking what does that mean i think it's like when you just got like really at your feet arms they call it smokers arms maybe that's something else smokers arms huh i've heard maybe that's not a thing in just one weirdo set it i've never heard that before i've i heard it once in my life i guess and i assumed everyone would know what i'm talking about uh i understand it to me when you got frail little arms because you're just standing around smoking all damn damn day someone like chimney yeah i mean i guess but you're also you're on the mound you're throwing heat so there's
