Twins win behind Maeda, Alcalá in game of the year

from Midwest Swing · host Brandon Warne

Kenta Maeda pitched extraordinarily well Tuesday. He struck out eight straight batters, a new team record. He carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning before Eric Sogard hit a bloop single to centerfield. Maeda was pulled for Rogers with one on, no outs and a 3-0 lead. Rogers gave up a double and then walked Christian Yelich. Keston Hiura proceeded to single, then the Twins committed an error trying to turn a double play, and Milwaukee tied it up at 3.The game lasted 12 innings thanks to Caleb Thielbar and Jorge Alcalá coming in clutch from the bullpen. Taking advantage of the new extra-innings rule, Byron Buxton began the 12th on second base and ended up scoring on a Jorge Polanco swinging bunt. The Twins won 4-3. The game was an emotional rollercoaster and will go down as one of the best in recent memory.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Rock AutoAmazing selection. Reliably low prices.
