In this podcast episode, we hear from Deja Mason, a black, gay woman who shares her experiences of coming out and navigating the challenges of being an LGBTQ+ individual in various communities. Deja talks about her journey of finding a support network of friends and family who accepted and loved her for who she is, and how therapy helped her navigate the coming out process. She also discusses the challenges she faced in high school and as a non-conforming gay woman in black communities. Deja offers advice to young black, gay women who are struggling to come out and find acceptance in their communities, and shares how allies can help make black, queer women more comfortable in our spaces.
