Two Jordanian Men Denied Bail in Rape Case | Belfast News

Two Jordanian men seeking asylum in Ireland face serious charges of rape and false imprisonment after an alleged assault at Galway’s Ceannt Railway Station. The 18-year-old victim claims she was taken to a car, locked inside, and subjected to repeated advances — despite her attempts to flee. CCTV footage reportedly shows the defendants adjusting their clothing and cleaning themselves post-incident, while also driving her to her accommodation afterward. Prosecutors presented medical evidence aligning with her account, while the defense argued the encounter was consensual and she was intoxicated. Despite the presumption of innocence, the High Court denied bail, citing flight risk due to Ireland’s lack of extradition treaty with Jordan — making future trial impossible if they flee. Case to be tried in Central Criminal Court. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
