Two Over-21s Cuffed in Alcohol Sting | Durham News

Two men over 21 were cuffed during an alcohol sting at Alchemy Bar in Wake County — but walked away with no charges. Surveillance shows plainclothes officers confronting them, leading to a scuffle and arrests, despite the operation targeting underage drinking. The bar claims patrons didn’t know they were cops until after the chaos. Officers say ID refusal justified the force. Now, the DA is launching a criminal probe into whether the use of force was legal, while the Sheriff’s Office conducts its own review. A civil rights attorney has been hired by the two men — no lawsuit filed yet. The DA expects clarity in 60-90 days.
