Two poems from ON PATHS, "Between the Ways" & "Open Road"

TEXTS ARE at: http://bit.ly/1IwPlUd MUSICAL header is a family cluster of Clark's nutcrackers (Nucifraga columbiana), at 2500 m., recorded last July in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, OR. These are their counter-singing "cat calls," as I like to call them. Nutcrackers are the companion avian species of the great Whitebark pines of the Pacific Northwest. The birds depend on the pine's seeds for food; & the pines, in turn, depend on the nutcrackers for their seeds efficient distribution. Such mutual benefit I see as the real natural currency of life.
