He is responsible for passing 50 laws in the last 10 years in California that have benefited the justice impacted community. In this part 1 interview, he shares his journey from a troubled childhood to his arrest and sentencing, leading to his time in prison. He discusses the challenges he faced, including a debilitating stutter, peer influence, and a lack of guidance. Despite these obstacles, Jay was determined to turn his life around and make the most of his time in prison. He shares his experiences in the reception center and his transfer to Solano State Prison during a period of intense conflict. The prison was at war. Through it all, Jay remains focused on personal growth and resilience. In this conversation, Jay Jordan shares his experience of being in prison and spending two years in solitary confinement. He discusses the challenges of being locked down for an extended period and the impact it had on his mental state. Jay also talks about the moment he had an identity crisis and realized that he needed to find himself..."Who am I?" He describes how he turned to writing and learning as a way to cope with his situation and how he developed a plan for his future.
