“Typical white dude attitude”

Jon Ward (@jonward11) was one of the people I had in mind when we came up with "With Friends Like These": A seriously smart and dedicated reporter who doesn't see the world the same way I do, but with whom I have found fertile common ground. He joins to discuss his reporting and his faith, and what it means to embrace the evangelism of racial reconciliation. Jon is a Political Correspondent for Yahoo News and is writing "a narrative history of Ted Kennedy's decision to challenge Jimmy Carter." He has a new podcast, "The Long Game," about "the lost art of solving problems through the lens of institutions," it is available here: https://medium.com/jon-ward/soft-launch-of-my-podcast-the-long-game-e3e728ccea3 The podcasts Jon mentions in the show are:  Truth’s Table: “Black Christian women who love the truth and seek it out wherever it leads us.” https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/truths-table/id1212429230?mt=2  Pass the Mic: “Every month Jemar and Tyler sit down with voices from across the reformed movement with the mission of addressing the core concerns of African Americans biblically.” http://www.podasterynetwork.com/category/passthemic/ The Benjamin Dixon Show https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMCioqY4zblWt7Uw0E0VTGA You can reach the pod at @crooked_friends on Twitter or email us at [email protected] Our sponsors deserver your attention and patronage! The Open Bible Podcast is for Christians seeking answers to understand the scriptures in their context and mystries. There are passages that can be obscure to modern readers due to historical or cultural references. Peter said that Scripture contains “some things that are hard to understand”, 2 Peter 3:16. The lack of understanding & knowledge can be deadly. Psalm 19:7: declares that the “testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple”. But the simple cannot be made wise by something they are unable to understand. Surely, the Word of God does demand the need for interpretation, explanation, and exposition of the scripture by diligent Bible Teachers. To comprehend God and His dealings with mankind in the past, and His plans for the future, is the main goal of these podcasts. Homesteader, The by Oscar Micheaux (1884 - 1951) LibriVox The Homesteader is a semi-autobiographic novel about Jean Baptiste, an African-American homesteader in the Dakotas. He meets Agnes who he falls in love with, however as Agnes is presumed to be white, he is not allowed to marry her, so instead he marries the daughter of a black preacher, Orlean, which eventually, due to family issues, ends in a tragedy. Returning to his homestead, he finds Agnes again and discovers her upbringing and past, which brings the book to its conclusion.
