U.S. Infant Mortality Rate Down
ABC News Correspondent Jim Ryan talks about how never the infant mortality rate in the United States has been so low. Preliminary data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that there were slightly fewer than 5.4 infant deaths per 1,000 live births in 2025. The decline was only fractions of a percentage point from 2024, but in hard numbers represented hundreds of lives. Scientists and medical professionals will now try to determine what’s going right.
