U.S. Launch Defensive Strikes; GOP Ahead in Redistricting Battle | NTD Good Morning (May 28)

from NTD Good Morning

The United States has launched new strikes against Iran, including operations near the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat to American forces and shipping in the area. U.S. forces also hit an Iranian ground control station in the port city of Bandar Abbas, which was preparing to launch a fifth drone. The United States said the strikes were "measured, purely defensive, and intended to maintain the ceasefire."Several states are moving forward on plans to make their congressional maps more friendly for Republicans, including Louisiana, South Carolina, Missouri, and Alabama. As of right now, the best case scenario for Republicans could see them gain around 16 seats after redistricting. Democratic states have altered their maps successfully in Utah and California for a potential gain of six seats, giving the GOP the upper hand in the redistricting battle.President Donald Trump told NTD on Wednesday that he's not thinking about threats against his life in order to be an effective president, reacting to a shooting this weekend right outside the White House, just weeks after an alleged third major assassination attempt against him in April. The president is also doubling down on making Washington a safer city, saying he wants to keep the National Guard in the city, with War Secretary Pete Hegseth saying they will surge National Guard troops to the capital this upcoming summer.
