U.S. Slams Canada with 50% Tariffs | US News

The U.S. is set to unleash sweeping 50% tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks, auto parts, and steel starting January 1st, as President Trump accuses Canada of years of unfair trade practices—especially hurting American farmers and ballooning the $60 billion trade deficit. The move follows a collapsed trade deal where both sides blame each other for last-minute changes, with the U.S. already slapping 50% tariffs on $20 billion in Canadian goods and Canada vowing dollar-for-dollar retaliation since September 8th. With this new wave of tariffs targeting major Canadian industries, the U.S. is sending a clear message: Canada won’t be treated as an equal partner anymore—and America holds all the cards.
