Consumption of hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) and hydrochlorofluoroolefins (HCFOs) in the U.S. is projected to more than double by 2030, reaching approximately 106,000 metric tons – up from around 40,000 metric tons in 2021 – according to a new report from the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA).The report – “Persistent Problems” – raises concerns about the environmental and health impacts of these chemicals, which are often marketed as climate-friendly alternatives to HFCs and HCFCs.
