What this episode covers
Visit https://lockedonucf.supercast.com to Join the EveryDayer's Club today! UCF football has a real spring storyline now, and it starts with the quarterback room. Scott Frost gave a meaningful update on Alonza Barnett III and made it sound like the Knights may not be far away from getting their expected starter back on the field. That matters because Barnett has missed a significant part of spring, and fans have every reason to watch this situation closely after what happened with the offense last season. The good news is Frost sounds encouraged, and the bigger takeaway is that UCF believes the pieces around him are getting settled enough for Barnett to jump back in quickly when he is cleared. This episode also digs into what the reps for the backup quarterbacks mean, especially for Keyone Jenkins, and why the tight ends could quietly become one of the most important groups on the offense. Cooper Bassett made it clear that reps matter no matter who is taking them, and that chemistry is still being built every day. With Dylan Wade back in the mix, that could become a major part of how UCF stabilizes the passing game this season. UCF’s official roster lists Alonza Barnett III, Keyone Jenkins, Dylan Wade, Scott Frost, and tight ends coach Cooper Bassett with those spellings and roles. There is also a bigger conversation here about expectations. If UCF is going to take a real step forward in 2026, the offense has to look more functional, more organized, and more dangerous than it did a year ago. Spring practice is not everything, but it is enough to start reading signs. And right now, the signs point to a team that looks cleaner, more structured, and more capable of leaning on its quarterback room and tight end group until Barnett is fully ready.
