How are you not ready? I wasn't ready. It's been weeks. I know.
I wanted to come out with a bang. And I'm well, you know, Josh, I'm mad at you. I'm mad at you. And it's really difficult to do this tonight.
OK. Because I'm upset with you. Why? Because I don't have a place.
I don't have my own music. I have nothing, which your daughter was kind enough to remind you of tonight. I have nothing. I have nowhere to set my notes.
You have your hand? Which I brought tonight. I know. But I can't hold them out in front of me like this for the whole show.
I can't do that. That's too bad. I just don't have any. I have this.
This chair is makeshift. It's always cold down here. I have to dress like a polar winter. I've got my fuzzy socks on.
I'm covered in a fuzzy blanket. It's an uncomfortable environment. And you want me to do this podcast? Anything else?
No, I just thought people should know. OK. Well, I'm sure I'm not happy about it. And here's the thing.
America's Got Talent. Can we talk about that show for a minute? So your kids love it. And I actually like it too.
And it's commercial for you on Netflix, or however it was that they got that on the TV tonight. I don't know how the youngsters got it. They were really good tonight, by the way. Wow.
They were great. They were all watching America's Got Talent. Your kids. Oh, yeah.
Well, I've trained them up pretty well. I'll take full credit for that. Previous to tonight, they've been a little rambunctious. We've been turning a corner.
Really? Well, anyway, tonight was really good. And we watched America's Got Talent. And I had been waiting for this guy, who's like this creepy dude that does these really cool, death-defying tricks.
And I'd been waiting for his second trick to come on. And it came on just as she would come down from putting the kids down. And I said, Josh, Josh, you should watch this. I put him right there.
This is the coolest thing. I put him go to sleep. I didn't put him. Well, everybody else knows what that means.
Anyway, and so I said, Josh, you should stay and watch the thing. Well, cool, this trick was because we'd watch how many hours of America's Got Talent tonight. And you went downstairs. I turned around.
There was nobody there. I had to prepare the studio. You didn't. But the problem with you is that you just disappear.
You're not a very good host. We come over here. We bring dinner most Saturday nights. You don't say anything.
You eat. And then you go down to the basement. And you say nothing to anyone. It's just silence all the time.
I thought you kind of assumed that I would come down here to get things set up. I thought that you would watch the magic trick that I wanted you to watch. You came down here. You didn't say, hey, I'm going down to the dungeon to set up the podcast stuff.
You don't say any of that. And then I'm left watching the magic trick. Is it recorded? Well, yeah.
But you can't rewind it. And you can't fast forward it. So once you play the show, you're just stuck watching it. And I'd seen many of those acts before, because I was here last weekend.
And you know how the kids want to watch the same thing over and over. So I sat through it again. And the timing was just right. You would just come downstairs when this awesome edition was on.
And you didn't see them. Yeah. Well, I had more important things. It wasn't more important, though.
I just feel like you. Now we're set up. I feel like you ignore me. Well, that's true to a large extent.
But I wouldn't take any offense to it. I don't think that's nice. I don't think that's nice. No.
We had brats tonight. We brought the alcohol for the drinks. For the, yeah, for the neighbors. And I appreciate that.
I appreciate it. And they do, too. They don't. Your neighbors don't even have a house.
It's going to be built. It's going to be built. It's not. There's like pieces of wood over the ceiling now for the first time in months.
Yeah, they have these piles of lumber outside. I know. And then we have these torrential rains. They should have built an arc with it, is what they should have done.
We've had a lot of rain. If this pile must have extended, I mean, to the heavens. I mean, it was at least 20 feet tall. Where is all the wood?
What falls over? Well, it doesn't fall over. Well, what if it did? Well, it wouldn't.
It was weakened because of this. It was not. It was plywood. It doesn't.
It doesn't only tip. It was. It's a two by fours, eight by something's, maybe two. You, the contractor.
You know, they caught wood. You suck. And I just wanted the world to know. And oh, by the way, when we were on vacation, and I apologize, we didn't explain why we haven't been on for a couple weeks.
Old producer, Billy and I took a really neat road trip up to Niagara Falls. We can talk about that maybe throughout the podcast. But I'm sure they'll be riveting. Well, I mean, if no one's interested.
Well, I mean, I've heard about it. Well, anyway, whilst we were traversing up the East Coast and then back down to DC through Pittsburgh, I just wanted you to know we distributed many of those little cards that you made to advertise for the podcast. Good. How many have you spread about the?
Not too many, but I don't get out much. I mean, that's the difference between you and I have three anchors, if you will, if they kind of keep me from getting out and about versus you are kind of more free. So I depend on you for this aspect of the project and the program. And I feel like I do all the work.
Well, I mean, if work is- Why don't you just say I do? I believe I bought all of this equipment. I am the advertiser for the show. I am the promoter for the show.
I don't really know what you do to help promote us. I do many things. It's probably me that draws most of our listeners. Or at least, I know that you don't.
No, I do. I don't think so. No. Anyway, we should talk about this JAG episode because we haven't talked about JAG.
I mean, first of all, we should celebrate the fact that we're back after two weeks hiatus. Yeah. You know what, but everybody takes leave in the summer. Well, that's true.
No, you were gone. You did the cruise thing. We did the go to Niagara Falls thing. You did the cruise thing.
Yeah. When? When are you on the cruise? Oh, okay.
But anyway, so we are back. What was that? It was a while ago. Oh.
Well, anyway, I'm going to blame you. Well, you got sick. You came down with the plague and kids got sick and that. Yeah, exactly.
Anyway, but we're back. We're back and better than ever. We're back and you're going to review sightings. Sightings.
Episode 10, January 13th, 1996. We made it to the next year. We're no longer in 95. And senior year high school for me, I was getting ready to get ready to leave high school.
Wow. That's hard to believe it's been that long. Yeah, but you look it. So I mean, it's a.
I meant that in. You just dude. The worst brother ever. So seriously.
So yeah, so go ahead. Since you actually brought your notes tonight because I didn't like the way that you were previewing the show. I thought it was boring. Really?
Yeah. You don't have a whole lot of like whatever it is. Really? I'm lacking.
All right. I'm not talking about all the time. This is part of the course. It's the same thing.
You. It's the way you eat. We talked about this before. You don't ever.
We had brats tonight and he's over there eating a broth with nothing. With nothing. What's wrong with that? No, I'm telling you dude.
No. No. No. No.
No. No, no. No. No, no, no.
No, I'm just saying. No, no, no, no. I'm just saying. because I kind of feel like you're implying that I wouldn't even look.
I respect you too much to just imply. I would just come out and say it if that's what I got. It was just like, you know. Can we just talk about the Jaggot Show?
I feel like we're going off the rails. I like this episode. I like that. I thought it was a cross between Twilight Zone.
What's another creepy show? What did I say? X-Files, right? Did you get that?
It starts out kind of creepy, UFO-ish, the creepy music. Buh-buh. Yeah, they tried for that. They had the, I really liked it.
I was really into it. Actually, the whole New Mexico thing. Did you see the Twilight Zone episode, original Twilight Zone, Rod Serling type Twilight Zone, where there were a few that he did, where people came from the past into the future. You know, and they walked into the desert.
It was always into the desert, I think, because they filmed Twilight Zone in California, but it was always the one where the A-blinking guy walks into the desert town and into the little cafe. I think I've seen them all. That one was great. It's been a while.
The one with the astronauts that thought that their ship crashed on Mars, and they all were crazy, but they were really on Earth the whole time. And then I like the one where there were these three criminals, but they had gone into suspended animation in a cave. And one of them, during this time period, they rock and fall in on his little cocoon thing, and he died. And so he was a skeleton by the time his other two friends woke up.
And but they're still all kind of ruthless and everything. And they have all this gold. And they go through all these trials and tribulations to find out that gold's not worth anything anymore, but nobody cares. But they have all this gold.
It was good episode. Oh my gosh. I love the Twilight Zone. All those old ones, I bought the whole box set, because I'm crazy about it.
It was like the best show, Rod Serling. Great dude. Yeah, it was a good show. It was really good.
I was always surprised that it made it onto TV back then. And not only did it make it onto TV, but it stayed on TV for years and more years. Yeah, I think it kind of burned him out. I mean, I think it attributed a lot to his quick demise.
He was pretty young when he died, but it was really good. And the one with the submarine. Yeah. I was freaking out when I was a kid.
Creep me out when I was a little kid. I think I was a grandma's house dude. Yeah! That's the biggest craze.
That was the scariest damn thing. The submarine to make a long story short submarine. It crashes from World War II. And then many, many years later, I guess in the 50s, so 10 years maybe down the road, the ships coming across.
And it's like, ping, ping. It's picking up stuff from something. So they send a diver down. And the diver's like, there's guys like banging on the dam submarine down here.
And the submarine at Sanken in World War II. There's no way that there could be anybody on it. And people on the ship are seeing people from the sub, like images of them, ghostly images. And man, I just love that show.
But I thought this Jag episode. It wasn't that good. It wasn't that good. It wasn't that good.
And not even close to that good. But it was fun. It was fun. It had creepy elements.
They had a lot of the same dissonant trombones, that kind of that Twilight Zone-ish. Leaving you into suspense. Trying to leave you into suspense and so on and so forth. I liked it.
So it's happening. This is out at Del Rio. There's an abandoned Navy base out there. The whole show begins with a guy who we later learn as DJ with his niece, whose mom had died in a tragic car wreck a year before.
It's actually JD. I said JD. No, you said DJ. Well, I've had a drink.
A drink. Mom won. It was big. So if you had small glasses, it might equate to three.
But at any rate, yeah. DJ. DJ. DJ.
What the hell, dude? Yeah, JD. Anyway, JD is in his trailer with his niece, Kathy. Kathy's mom had died tragically in a car accident.
We'll learn about that later. Anyway, we see this frantic Mexican dude. Keep in mind, Del Rio. You're a bad guy.
You're a bad guy. That was said. The border. What did he say?
Are you the man? What does that mean? Oh, me. How do you know that?
Because. I took Spanish in high school. I don't remember that. So he didn't never mind.
OK. That's what he said? Yeah. Well, anyway, he's banging on the door to the little trailer.
And it's a, you know, they're in the middle of nowhere. And he says that. And the girl answers the door. And DJ, JD, JD, JD, has like, don't answer that door.
And he's checking his shotgun or whatever. Anyway, and we see what appears to be a UFO. We hear a very high-pitched noise. Everybody's covering their ears.
I don't know what happens with Mexican guy. Kathy runs outside of the trailer. She disappears. JD, who we later learn is a Navy SEAL.
There must be plenty of those around, because he's like the fifth one to show up on JAG, in some random place. Anyway, so that's how we open the show. And Kathy disappears. Mexican guy disappears.
And old JD is stuck trying to figure out what got out. Well, in his whole trailer got rocked. Yeah, his TV exploded. It got his refrigerator.
Everything flew out. And it was probably good, because I'm sure that refrigerator needed a good clean face for the rest of his trailer. It probably did. So actually, I'm sure what that UFO did was more of a favor than anything else.
Well, maybe. By cleaning his trailer. Probably. Anyway, we roll into the credits.
Yay, I was so excited to watch JAG, because I hadn't seen an episode in a while, so it was pretty pumped. And it really, it was a pretty good intro. I was intrigued. And so we come back and who better to investigate what the heck's going on at Del Rio, Texas than Harmon Mag, or Harmon Mag who roll up into the show in their awesome GOV and Meg with her laptop again in the GOV.
Now, it was kind of pretty awesome, I thought. Anyway, so they're with the town sheriff, old Stu Pope. And he just thinks that Cathy ran away. He's not thinking that there's any UFOs.
He doesn't believe in that crap. Cathy's relationship with JD has been a little bit strenuous. It wouldn't be a surprise if she ran away. It sounded as though she'd had a track record of running away.
Anyway, he hasn't think anything's crazy. Meg seems to think that there's UFOs everywhere in New Mexico. No, well, she's more like, hey, let's just keep an open mind here. Why does she always seem so openly flirtatious to harm?
I mean, the way she walks and the way she talks, it's like, eh, wait, seriously. Yeah, she's a little, I don't know. I get what you're saying. I don't know why she's.
But she's always like that. Well. In this episode, especially. Yeah, she is in this episode especially.
But he kind of plays back with her, you know, in terms of. No, no, no. I mean, he's good for a one-night stand. But I mean, he's probably interested in her for that.
But I don't think long term, I don't really feel like they have a connection. Well, in any event, they don't connect at all in this episode other than maybe a few remarks. No, you're right. So the next scene, F-18s are flying overhead.
And apparently they have some kind of a. No, see, this is where it just starts to go off the rails again. Every time we come down with the, I mean, Harms just knows some random guy that's going to be able to fly a mission. Well, they probably set it up.
On a particular day. And he's got to run a whole scene. Sounds like they fly over the base often. And do scans.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, the F-18s are flying overhead, and they're doing some kind of scan of the landscape.
And it's 1990, what, 6 now? Yeah. Meg is supposedly downloading all this data. In her car.
On the laptop. Yeah. I know. I didn't really buy it either.
But it was kind of, I mean, it was a preview for what's to come, right? I mean, if nothing else. Anyway, the scans didn't reveal anything. They didn't see that anything had changed in the landscape since the last time that they did a scan, which was previous to the suspected UFO sighting.
So I thought it was funny, though, Harms and Meg go out to talk to JD. And just to see what he knows, and hear straight from the horse's mouth what he went through. And then he tells them, hey, I hope you can find my niece. And they're like, well, you will come back.
We'll give you a sit right before we head out of town. And they go back to the car and all of a sudden they're arming up. Did you see that? They get in the web belt's out, getting their nine mills.
Going to go check out what's going on on the base. Hey, I'm sure they saw Aliens by then, that movie. And they knew what was going on. It's the funny we were coming out.
You know, I don't know. They do go to the base, though. And it's funny what I thought was kind of odd, is that Harms says, well, we shouldn't go through the main gate, because whoever might be there would be expecting us to go through there. So we should just hop the fence.
But it's a closed base. It's abandoned. There's not going to be anybody at the front gate or anywhere else. It's just going to be fenced off all the way around.
He was just trying to cover their bases and make sure they're safe. Cover their bases. That's what you did there. I just thought I didn't really know why I go to all the trouble of throwing the car's floor mat over the fence wire.
Well, that's how he doesn't get it. Well, no, I mean, I know why he did it. I did like how he tested whether that was total. Whether the fence was live or not.
Throw a quarter at it. I would have just said, hey, man, go up and touch that real quick. Is it hot? No?
OK, we're good. Yeah, we're good. Anyway, so but he feels like they have to be sneaky about it. And he tells her, we're going to park right here and take the floor mat, throw it over the sea wire, barbed wire, whatever.
And it's not hot. So they crawl over. Anyway, they shimmy over. You know, Meg's getting pretty good at climbing fences.
If you remember, she was just at the Peruvian Embassy three episodes ago scaling fences. She's a qualified climber in every respect. Apparently. She doesn't even need the rigging.
No, she doesn't need rigging. She freestyles, basically, that's her techniques. She does. So to be clear, the base is not operational.
There's nothing going on there. Hasn't been anything going on there for a long time. Anyway, they hop the fence. They take a tour of the base.
I love how Meg has all of the blueprints of the base in a five by eight note card that she carries with her so that she can know exactly where they are at all times on the insulate. She is Google Meg-Mats. She is. She is that.
I don't know. It just seemed kind of cheesy. But I was still into it, because I like the whole creepiness. I like them walking around the abandoned base.
That would be kind of a fun thing to do. Kathy later admits in the episode once she's found that she liked to go there and kind of snoop around and see what's going on. You know what it is, is it's one of the first instances of urban exploration. Have you ever heard of that?
Where people purposely intentionally go and explore these old abandoned buildings and so on and so forth? No. Yeah, looking up on your computer machine there. When you get a chance, people have gone and explained.
I think that stuff is cool to go into those old places. I mean, people do it all the time back. Waterville? Waterville?
No, well, yeah. But I'm going to talk at home. It's like old hotels that were abandoned and old theaters. Yeah.
Yeah. I find some really neat stuff. Yeah. So this is like the first.
No, I thought it was cool. That's what made it kind of creepy. And they get over the fence. They're looking around.
They're not seeing anything. But they still look through all the stuff. And they're kind of walking the flight line. And they, and harm is the one who's like walking from the flight line into a hanger.
And all of a sudden he's like, did you hear that? And she says, no. And he says, well, come back here and then walk towards the hanger. And she does.
And anyway, at the end of the day, what you learn is that there's sand and everything kind of outside the hanger, but there's nothing inside the hanger, which would indicate that somebody had been in that hanger very recently. And so that's kind of the sort of thing. They do find an abandoned Huey helicopter that's in there. That was kind of weird.
It didn't look like it had been flown in a long time. Yeah. That was, I don't know. It was a little odd.
I don't know why they, I don't know why they, I don't know why it was in there. But it was it. Yeah. I mean, if you're going to leave the base.
Why? But anyway, whatever. They did see Kathy, but they seem more interested in the abandoned Huey helicopter. It's more interesting than the girl.
I'm trying to find the girl that's disappeared after this supposed UFO sighting. But Harms so interested in this Huey that he's. Hey, hey, what you look at this? This is really fascinating.
I don't know why the girl went. I don't care. I'm sure she's fine. I mean, there's plenty of food around here.
We'll see what that looks like after one command. Quite the price. Maybe. Anyway, so they look around at the Huey for a while.
Megan harm sees something outside. There's this can that all of a sudden starts bouncing around on the floor. Do you remember this part? And bright lights outside the hangar because I guess they were just going to set up camp there that night.
I don't know what their plan was, but they clearly weren't going to leave any time. No, but I thought it was funny that the moon was bright the entire night. Like you could see everything just fine without night vision. You don't really need it.
They have a supposed UFO. They do. And it and all of a sudden the Huey that was just there is no longer there anymore in the hangar. So it's it is kind of creepy as a as a watch of the episode.
I was kind of scratching my head like, well, how are they going to explain this one because the Huey's gone. It was like some magic trick or something. Anyway, so there you go. Because they had gone outside the hangar to see what the UFO was and when they came back in the hangar, that's when the Huey was gone.
So next scene, the fence is on all of a sudden, which is strange because all the power to the base has been turned off. So why should the fence be on? But Meg pulls out this handy dandy little map she's got on the three by five card and she's like, oh, we should go check out the power station. And it's conveniently right across the street.
I mean, wouldn't it? Yeah. And then we get these cuts of now, someone's actually starting to watch them and watch them with NBG. Yeah, and like thermal images and stuff.
And it's a lot of people with these guns that fire a lot around. And I think they had the worst. They would start at that part. No, no, they haven't.
They're just following them around and. And well, as soon as they get into the power plant, though, I mean bullets are starting to fly, right? Yeah. You see this?
You see these green lasers, which we would normally think of as red lasers that are kind of tracking targets, but these are green and Megan harm take cover behind. I don't know. You know, it's not easy being green. It's not easy being green.
It's not my hair. No, that's not even. And maybe. You know what?
I want to see. I want to see it so bad. Why don't you go see it? Because it's not in theaters anymore.
I mean, it's not nowhere close to us. It's PG 13. Well, why would it be PG 13? It's Mr.
Rogers. I don't know. Atlanta Maple. Did you ever watch it?
Because I watched it all the time. I was kid. Mr. Rogers.
Who didn't see Mr. Rogers? You did? Oh, yeah.
Lots of times. Do you know about the trolley? I know about the trolley. King Friday.
King Friday. Daniel the cat. Daniel the cat who is now got his own cartoon series. He doesn't.
Yes, he does. You do. I don't think she knows about Daniel the cat. He's on PBS.
It's the puppet. No, it's a cartoon. Oh. Oh, yeah.
He's a tiger. He is a tiger. He's a tiger. He's all over it.
Like always. Well, anyway, and the guy that played Mr. McPheeley, remember the mailman's special delivery? He was awesome.
He's still alive and promoting Mr. Rogers. He's very old now. That's a surprise me.
That's good. Anyway, I really want to see it. And it got a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. Yeah.
The movie ever scores that high. Well, there's actually quite a few that have scored 100%. No, they're really? Yeah.
What? 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. What is one of the other podcasts that I listen to? They do this thing, a Rotten Tomatoes game, where they basically list out all these movies and they guess at the Rotten Tomatoes score.
And so anyway, I just know from listening to this game over and over again, over a few years that there are every now and then movies that get 100%. Can you name one? No. Just for the audience.
No. I can't. No. I don't believe you.
It's true. I don't believe you. I don't think producer Billy. Can you get on that?
Well, welcome back to the podcast. I know that it received a 100% rating. Yeah, there's quite a few. He's looking at us like, no, there aren't.
Because he knows there's not. Not to get political, but the more progressive your movie is, the more likely you will get 100% just saying. Well, I've not heard of any. So while he's researching, we'll continue with the where we are on the thing.
So last time we checked in on JAG, Meg and Harmer in a firefight while they're in the power plant to the base. Yeah, Meg and Dumb Cathy, she's pops out of the ceiling like some kind of superhero and is like, come here, come here in the ceiling. Come here and hide in the ceiling. And you're not even a Peruvian ambassador, go.
And three episodes ago and still you pull out these things. I don't know how they even get up there. Well, they do. They shimmy up there pretty damn big.
They're going to shut that dude. This chin up champion 2000. Meg is pretty tough. She's a cross bit kind of girl.
Yeah, before there ever was such a thing. Well, somehow they shimmy up into the ceiling, so to speak. And go and find Cathy who's made herself cut at home. She's got quite a dent.
I mean, it's almost like that. Tammy, I think she was drinking out of a soft drink out of a cup she recently got from a fast food establishment. So how do you, what are you even doing up here kid? Why would you want to go anywhere else?
Yeah, stand by, stand by. A couple of hundred percent on the Arotin tomato. Citizen Kane, the cabinet of Dr. Calligary, 1920, really?
Yep, saw that one. All about Eve, modern times. These are all really old movies. Singing in the rain, never saw it.
Laura never saw it. North by Northwest. That was a Hitler or Hitler. The Hitchcock.
Pretty close. Not even. The Maltese Falcon. Can we get up to modern times?
You're right though. There are a couple of 100s. What was that part? Hold on.
Frankenstein 1931. Yeah, I'm trying to get. Oh, but nothing since 1971. No.
There's more. Trust me. There's not. Yeah, there's more.
There's more. Well, there's at least not. So you're right. So I do need to ask you about something back to the episode.
Okay. What the hell is level red support? Oh, that's a navy term. That means I need help right away.
That's a navy term. It must be because we don't use the red. No one have I heard of press the cell phone three zeros and you'll get to the navy operator. Oh, everybody knows that one.
Oh, everybody knows that. You should ask the person you work for. How accurate is this? I have so many things to ask him about.
You know, I was asked to be a part of a navy retirement, which I've never seen a navy retirement. I'm a near force girl. I don't know anything about how the Navy retires and the Navy guy that wanted me to be a part of his retirement. He wanted me to be a like a he called it like a side boy boy was definitely part of the title like a side boy.
I know. And I looked at him weird and I was like, sir, I'll do whatever you need me to do. And he's like, oh, yeah, I just got to find another. I got to find an army guy now.
We got to have jointness and side boys and did you look up what that is? No, I just thought I'd ask my boss. You weren't even curious about it. I am curious about it.
I figured it was like a proffer or you know the Navy. They have those weird. They had a little whistle thing. I think it's what?
What? I mean, what is your name? Nothing. Did you say fluffer?
No. I hope you didn't say that. No. No.
No. I think you did. Anyway, you know how they, you know what? And all these times you say, oh, well, edit that out.
I noticed that you never edited anything out. You just let this thing. Well, this time I would edit it. You won't.
You won't. Sure. No. Anyway, but you know what?
And maybe anything. They have the little things like on Star Trek, Star Trek where they're like, yeah, the little whistle. And you know, you got all the little people lined up on either side. That's what I'm supposed to do.
No. Be one of those people who don't even know how to whistle. No, no, no, no, no, no. You're not like actually.
They have a machine that does that. What? They have a machine that you blow into and it does that. Well, you might know how to blow something.
I bet or not. Anyway, we're with this dude. You know, this is a family show. Josh.
We are. I can't even concept. Well, they have the fire fire in the power plane. And Kathy's attic.
And Kathy's attic. Kathy's attic. We have DJ from Full House. Apparently.
