Yes, those are my war cries those are your war cries. Oh wow that is fierce But we will this originally aired on the 11th of November of 1995 so just a little while ago And really where were you I? Was at the airport's academy at the high school yes, yes, I think you were probably having more fun than I almost definitely I was Most definitely I was yes indeed, but I was not a freshman any longer At least well then like was good right as it all downhill after your freshman year I thought pretty much was anyways so back to the show I guess not should we talk about that in a different session sure yeah, yeah, maybe with your shrink maybe with my Okay, all right, we'll move on you know about the jag up So that is after all why we're here that does happen to talk about tonight.

I remember I got reprimanded I didn't have the notes and then you told the story and I didn't think it was a spy I think it came off as well.

You almost didn't have the notes this week you almost didn't even watch it. Okay folks All right, I got a problem with Amazon prime. I got a problem I got an LA so harm speaks and then two seconds later I hear what he says and it's awful but for the viewers I sucked it up I watch the episode anyway, and I have some break hold up. Where did you watch it?

I watch it on my home. I don't know if my cable box is going bad I don't know what the problem is because it works it does that on the TV to delay, you know what I think I actually I think I know what this is user error. It's not I think it's not a writer error dude I did every kind of manual fixing I could do I have everything from the wall which I was reprimanded for by producer Billy Yeah, because he said that that's really bad like power surge There's that is bad and I have an good authority that you don't even understand some of the most basic military systems that you're supposed to use at work So how would you military system? Well such as those associated with travel for example?

Oh, yeah, are you seriously talking about the defense travel system? DTS? Well, no, I don't know how to use DTS Really does that make me a bad person? I'm not good at DTS makes you potentially Hey, DTS issues.

I will tell you I've never had a duty Yes, I have been lucky enough to have other people that did DTS for me And then I just came back from my trip here's my receipts and they filed my voucher and always good with the world Okay, now I need to file vouchers and do DTS for senior ranking Gopo people and oh, yeah, I've screwed him up haven't had one payment yet. That's great. That is so great. Wait, wait Listeners now.

You know why She was not even watching the intuitive. I think that system is difficult to manage. So what Hey, so we're coming at you live from the American Embassy in Lima Peru this time. We've got a young corporal He's standing watch on the gate and his girlfriend calls him away.

She's on the other side of the gate He goes over to her and he's like dude, I'm a work Just leave me alone. She's like but my mother my mother. That's not a very good Spanish accent Is it a mother? They moderate maybe moderate?

I'm not very sick. Anyway, my mother is sick And he's like dude, I gotta work so and then at that very moment and it's dark He spins around and he sees this figure on the fence and the figure shoots at him He returns fire kills said figure and it turns out to be a young boy. Yeah, so I Didn't appreciate the shooting back at the boy. Why because when I was in full auto mode and his gun didn't Move and he hit his target precisely in full auto mode, which I think as a security forces professional.

You know is Well, you only need to hit him with one right right, but you can hit him with that first round. You're good Okay, okay, well, maybe maybe I'll just be in a little too picky just one of the head. That's our train All right, so he'd waste this dude anyway, he wastes this dude and sadly it turns out to be a young boy and That's really where the episode begins and then we roll into the opening credits So it kind of lures you in as it should to the show and the next scene is who? But strapping young Harman Rab and old Meg Austin flying in on a C-130 into Lima, Peru Yeah, I figure out what the heck happened to embassy.

Yeah, they landed to for hey Chavez International Airport Every time because I think they were always like job is in that movie But anyways, so they meet a gunny Granger so they do meet gunny Granger and I had in quotes on my notes gunny sergeant I hate officers Granger because when they meet him at the airport if you'll recall he does not salute them No, he was trying to protect them. No and Meg says do you have a problem saluting officers gunny sergeant and he says no man They're snipers were out here and and if I salute you they're gonna know you're an officer and she says okay We are lawyers and he says well, they'll shoot you just as much as any other officer So whatever Meg doesn't push the issue and neither is harm and they walk over to their vehicle that's set to pick them up And there's two younger Marines They're standing there that render a very sharp salute to both Meg and commander ab and Commander ab rather snidely talks to the gunnery sergeant says so apparently you haven't briefed your young Marines on these sniper Protocol and it's perfect isn't it? Immediately it puts the gunnery sergeant as kind of the antagonist of the episode well as the sub antagonist right? I mean there's more bad guys going on, but they kind of set him up you're right, but you know I think he's got a point.

I mean you don't have a point dude. It's Lima Peru. I mean we're not going into freaking well It is Lima Peru, but we have a known terrorist organization operating in Lima Peru the shining path which may very well want the scalp of a Good-looking Harmon Rabin a very good-looking Meg Austin Pause time whatever I need to do here. Did you say Meg Austin is very good looking?

Well, she is I don't think you know really I haven't felt that you've treated her fairly this entire podcast Well, what I I probably won't treat her fairly in Europe in any way this podcast because I had a little bit of Discriment in house kind of about a business, but really? We got hour or or or 50 minutes at least so we meet the ambassador because Harmon may go to the The US Embassy there in Peru and they meet the ambassador and you know what I put in my notes guess if I could ask guess who she Reminded me up the ambassador. Yeah, I'm not sure who a political figure England 19 90s that you're yep Margaret Thatcher Now don't be wrong listeners. I loved Margaret Thatcher.

I thought she's amazing She did amazing thing for England, but this woman was Margaret Thatcher. No dude. It's not in every way She was cold not saying Margaret Thatcher's bad. I really like you.

You young lady seriously I just thought the hairdo the suits and she was very just cold the whole episode never was she warm even even When she was talking to the president well when she was a bit out of line She didn't realize he was on the other end of the line. I thought wow. She is just just this woman has a male parts attached No, yeah, well, let's talk about the ambassador a little later because there were parts of that character Well, there is a lot of the whole episode later on the reason that it came up in my notes is because I said ambassador gets salute Because when harm and Meg went in at first to meet the ambassador the marine that escorted them into her office Rendered a salute to the ambassador now. I can say from personal experience that I have gone into an ambassador's Office when they were overseas We did not render those kind of peasants and courtesy to the ambassador and she seemed to expect it What the ambassador that you actually saw in real life?

No, no the one I saw in real life did not expect that we would render a salute He was a civilian Excellent. Okay, so they meet her. That's great. Oh wait a minute.

You don't want to talk about that. No Oh, pretty sure is interested Unfortunately your co-host is I'm blessed by the I say on this damn podcast. What are you talking about? I love your input?

You do not you're just kind of getting you hate But I'm not I'm not trying to bring reality into the TV show Back to reality. Okay, all right. Let's talk What do we got here what happens after they talk to the ambassador who's like you need to solve this crap? They make a they make a plan right and they shift to interviewing par who was the Marine that actually took out the kid and Meg just goes after this guy doesn't she just vicious?

Yeah, that's actually a great word because she really was she was just all over this kid and harm who's kind of lingering in the background It's like wow woman. He's like he finally pulls her off Yeah, like lieutenant Austin outside now. Yeah kind of thing because she was a little bit harsh on him He's like a little bit. Hey Meg you are an investigator.

You're not prosecuting a trial right now. Yeah, absolutely chill I think it was in his right mind, but I think it's typical Meg I and I do love that the writers always portrayed her the same throughout the series They didn't try to change her. I thought they made her into a very strong character She was not shy, but she was also in a sense Sort of unfeeling I mean this guy just shot a young man and he felt very bad about it and she was just all over Well, we did see that in the last episode where she her ability to have empathy is sorely lacking But anyway, I think that makes her a good lawyer Perhaps yeah, probably in certain aspects, but in this in the last episode and in this episode. I think she's off the rails Really like the whole time well any probably not so much with par but in her interaction with the gunnie for sure She's just off in the night with par.

Yeah, well, I was one under Got it right. It's actually really funny dude. Oh my gosh. She's a little bit more of a lather.

Okay, okay All right, wasn't funny this regard so yeah harm asked for a word with Meg and then they decide okay Well actually the next thing I think if I remember right is there's this old lady kind of tumbling along through the city with her little vegetable basket which is gonna look good and I say one thing I noticed is a viewer because because Josh and I were both from a town that's famous for Exporting fruit and I had to laugh at these people in Peru that have these little vegetable carts along the road Because I admire that because we're from places where you could just get fresh fruit right off the side of the road or the highway or wherever you may be and These people in Peru had the bananas. I don't know if you saw the bananas dance I don't know if I saw that they were plentiful and all of the bananas had stickers on them But I thought really in Peru I wouldn't have expected the stickers on the bananas, but they were there but at any rate Hey, Chiquita is everywhere Well, it was but I just it just seems kind of yeah like somebody should have sat in the show You know if they're really these fruit markets in Peru, they're probably gonna have stickers on their bananas We should probably take those off, but they didn't I got it budget constraints You can't get a Peruvian vegetable market expert to come and make sure that your scenes are properly filmed Anyway, just matter to stick away from the scene a Peruvian budget market expert. Well, no Peruvian vegetable market expert, okay Interesting you don't even care because you don't care about any inputs. I have I don't care I thought you think it was neat that I even noted that the bananas did not have a sticker on them You said they did have a sticker.

I mean that they did okay. Well, did I say that they didn't because they did okay? Well anyway, so the lady the old lady Anybody only drops the basket at the gate of the embassy the two guards at the embassy who look appeared to me to be local nationals Were distracted from some female types that were flirting with them and but there's young a young Marine inside the embassy who notices that This woman in black the phrase covered is dropping this large vegetable basket and he yells bomb bomb Everybody goes running is that standard procedure by the way? Is that what you would yell as a Person to your bomb bomb.

Yes, I suppose it's an explosive device. Okay. I mean you got to get people out of the danger close area So it does blow up the front gate and does that Gate date Indeed it does and so next scene as we open upon the embassy and it's surrounded by everybody All kinds of guards trucks humbies dogs everything else so security is tight all of a sudden security All of a sudden we think they were even using a Geiger counter to look at some of the ambassador stuff It was a Geiger counter it was not a Geiger counter This is where and this is where your oh, she's Margaret Thatcher analogy falls apart because she's like No, she demands to be released from this prison known as Peru, but I thought the ambassador was so poorly played by whoever that and god bless her She's probably a wonderful woman, but she just played the I'm not going to be able to make the whole spin from dedication That's what the ambassador was all about which was not Margaret First of all He's much to be desired you get me out of this damn country She didn't say that on the phone. She did.

She's like what the hell do I have to do? Yeah, she was she was extremely emotional about her predicament She didn't like it at all from here. We had no trust in the United States Marine Corps and their ability to protect her What are we gonna talk about the gunny sergeant? Okay?

Well, here we are that's a perfect transition which or segue You segue perfect segue both two-wheeled carts and also a way to get into where the topics should go yes Well, you know if you think about it segue does take you places that you want to go in both the literal and You Folks I gotta say you know have you ever had a long week at work and you just you just had a long day at work and You're just trying to do the right thing a long week at work Even though you had Friday off from what I did take Friday off well anyway, so let's get back to the show Let's just try and keep it on track. Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were the one that just went off the right I didn't go off the rails I was merely talking about a segue and its ability to do many things both Brought into my mind these people that I see all over Washington that take these segue tours Yes, there there are tours But anyway, so it opens on the Marines in the courtyard and the gunny is training them or Did you think that it was a little strange that all of a sudden hand-in-hand combat becomes important after we've been attacked? No, I took it as he always does this this is part of his Otis operandi nice yes, so he's training them and Who comes along to ruin the party? I don't think first of all she had ordered this corporal to be confined to his quarters after he shot somebody That's not may I just not out of the box dude may I quote from The authoritative source on Amazon dot com.

That's authoritative which provides interesting synopsis of the Library Congress like you have for every other episode, okay First of all they title this factual error and they talk about how Meg and her approach to the gunny was inappropriate and unprofessional And that is absurd how was it for her to direct orders to him about his performance of his military duties over? Which she does not have any legal authority and about which she does quote not no squat Is that really what it's at is exactly what it says and quote first of all she ordered this corporal confined to quarters She comes out to find that he's working out with this gunnery sergeant Which is a blatant violation of the order that she had given I thought she was within her rights absolutely to question the gunnery sergeant on it What about praise and public punish in private? When she was addressing the gunnery No They were fighting they were doing combatives no Let me defend So if you were working out and you were one of the men working out or women if there were any women Which they work but if you work one of the women or men in that particular scene dude get your freaking question Would you not have an ear on what yeah, of course so she was Into him in front of all his troops. She was literally no, I don't think that she spoke above whisper Oh, she was all over him.

You know what first of all I don't think she spoke above a whisper to even she was all over him. She absolutely was in her right to be over here He was not a line absolutely out of line not like that seriously you would say cutty. Let's go over here They were walk away. They were quite a ways away.

Oh, come on. She wasn't like she was screaming at him She was screaming at him just like you're I'm talking to you. Okay. Let me put this way She was screaming at him as much as that actress could scream because again She lacks kind of this dynamic nature, which is probably why she didn't make it to season two what I Take issue with your opinion.

Okay I have throughout I perhaps I was a bit hard on her initially But I feel like thanks to Meg. We have solved how many cases now in the season one and she's by freaking lingual She's being Spanish, which also bails them out of this episode. Oh, please well. Anyway, so we agree that she's way overbearing Which is good.

I appreciate that so they decide to split up you are just against that whole thing You appreciate the fact that she's overbearing, but she didn't appreciate the fact that she was briefing the gunnery sergeant in front of his True, I was saying I'm glad we agreed that she was overbearing So so harm goes they decide to split up fine. Well move on and such an ass goes to see the family, right? Yep, just like he always does I wonder he's gonna sleep with today Nobody senior eat a name that senior eat up senior Cuz harm going off to see a family. This is exactly what he does and then he leaves Meg with a problem at the embassy No, no, he leaves mecky said hey man go check out the scene of the car ah ah or the incident stand by did you get the point?

Cuz you're skipping a bit ahead. I am not I am not you were you were skipping a bit ahead because when he leaves her at the embassy He says something to her that is way out of line. He said she said well You're gonna just leave me here and He's like yeah, I am cuz I'm gonna go outside the wire and I'm gonna talk to this guy's family And she's like would you just leave me here if I was a man and he says and I quote If you were a man you would have some explaining to do about the way you fill out that uniform and appropriate I think so no I think he was merely making an observation. It was purely within his right to do so Defend him just kicks my ass every episode.

What are you talking about? I'm not I'm not I'm Look I don't need to defend him because I had become disconnected from the mothership well Then the less now I think arm was fine and if anything else it was a compliment it was like hey, you know you you do fill out the uniform good job Okay, you know what so he goes to the the family and it's though it's a mother and Tiena who calls sign menswear Folks if you want to check out where this comes from please check out our blooper reel which will post as well sure so Tiena been square was in the apartment and Right with her mom and haram talks to her about hey Do you have any idea why the boy was sneaking around the embassy when the mother's like no dude look at this photo album clearly Yeah, clearly my boy is perfect. You know, he's good as they come as good as they could possibly come and so The mom wants to know the name of the Marine that killed a boy and haram's like sorry man I can't really Drink around here, but she guesses that it's part anyway, and she goes off into what I assume is all kinds of flex splitives in Español probably but remember her daughter has a big problem with this and you know why why tell us think of your favorite Uh spaghetti sauce. Um geez, okay.

Yes, right excellent Thank you for cleaning that up. Well, so it shifts back to Meg and par who are trolling around the embassy, right? And ours like hey, I'm sad this whole episode happened and then it gets to me again He's like hey, I want to apologize in person to the mom and Meg's like no you really shouldn't make like no get it dude But what does she find when she climbs around? Around no, she's okay, she does she does There's a lot of seven six five scorpion machine pistol the perfect thing the perfect weapon Yes, that someone would use if they were trying to assassinate.

I don't know the ambassador. Yeah, what's so make things? That's what makes me think makes on to something. How did you like Meg scaling the walls of the embassy?

I was kind of did you enjoy that? No, not really Especially after she had asked corporal par to give her a boot have they yeah, well no But before then she said have they gone over this area with a metal detector and parts like yes, ma'am And she said well, I'm gonna vault over the wall of the embassy and part like I I don't think you should do that And she says I'm gonna do it anyway And he launches her over the wall and she dismisses him much to him she gridded much to his she gridded You can see didn't want to leave her she was outside the walls of the embassy and while digging through the dirt She finds on the round the casing. Yeah, which is pretty interesting if you think about it in terms of the odds of her actually Summing across the Really not surprised that she would find it well of course you weren't there's a little underneath that leaf underneath the dirt Yeah underneath the dirt underneath the leaf and all the other detritus in the area clearly wait a minute What was that? Detritus did you say detritus is that a word it is a word it is a word?

Detritus it is I've never heard that word well. I love that you could use it in a sentence Well, that's right. Thank you. That's pretty severely.

Josh. So they ship back to par and Harvard Meg meat back up because I think detritus really fits into that sentence. Okay. I think you just made that word up Okay, okay, we'll see we'll let the producer Billy be the arbiter of my fate so Harvard Meg meet up and They discuss their findings make shows in the sell case or shell casing and harm tells mag that hey we think this kid was after par because of the Tiena getting pregnant and Meg goes to par to find par finds out that the shining pad has taken him hostage Detritus Is dead or waste organic material?

No, no yes again I said under all that my goodness gracious fine, and so We find out that this kidnapped him and then Meg did they kidnap him did they really kidnap? We suspect as much we suspect but they really didn't yeah, corporate par was in love with a beautiful scenery time who or see your Tiena He was in love with her. He was and he had a finder.

He had a finder and he does find her in a church Are we there? Can I go there? Sure? Yeah?

I mean she's there praying in a church and he's like hold on Oh before you describe this this scene we should have the viewers or listeners put Whitney Houston's I will always love you song in the back of their body. I didn't think I you know I didn't really feel that in the scene. Oh, you didn't really feel that in the scene. No, I really let me tell you Because although I don't cheat like you do with Jack episodes.

I don't watch multiple episodes ahead of time I didn't just burn through the series as you did, but I do recall from years past 2000 shall we say for and 2005 And I grip my heart as I speak this because it's so emotional to me that we used to my husband and I used to go over to your house And we'd watch jag this is like our thing every Friday night. We would watch jag. I think it was Thursday Was it yeah, it certainly wasn't Friday. I looked to producer Billy was it Thursday at any rate?

And it was so emotional these scenes because we just had we needed to know what happened between harm and make but in this I'll edit post okay We really just needed to see what happened between harm and Mac But in this episode when this poor young Marine is in the chapel he's pleading to this seniorita Tiana that he wanted so badly to marry her and I just I didn't feel it. That was the problem. I just didn't feel it I didn't feel that he was crazy in love with her I certainly didn't feel it she was in love with him because she says well, how am I supposed to love? I can't do a Spanish accent.

So how am I supposed to love somebody that? They killed my brother. Yep. She's turns him down right there, but then in like two seconds later.

She takes him back Did you get that? And it just threw me for a loop. Yeah, it was sort of at that point kind of Certainly made me think I need to know more about this woman because I didn't trust her. Yeah at that point in the show Anyway, okay, so harm egg and gunny they get together and they decide all right.

We're gonna go round up Okay Let's talk a little bit about gunny for a minute gunny gunny. I hate officers whatever's name What do you mean gunny? I hate officers? He showed it in the beginning when they flew in and he failed a render salute proper Cuz I was protecting him as many snipers are they really in Lima, Peru?

I don't know are there really that many maybe we should check this out many because his freakin Marine Corps Truth saluted harm. They didn't have a problem with it. So it was all I don't know. I didn't really buy it Well, so they all get together Meg gunny and harm and they decide to go.

Hey, we're gonna go get par Yeah, but gunny thinks that par has been cadet so gunny is ready to go all out Yep, ping-kong delta on this little city in Peru and To me it was just overkill ha ha pardon the pun and harms like dude stand down your guys Meg says at first but harm reiterate to harm's like stand down your guys I'm gonna take you gunny and I'm gonna take two of your dudes and we're gonna go down and we're gonna get par and And gunny's like yes, sir, of course. I thought gunny reacted much better to harm and rap than he did That's because Meg's been giving him crap the whole episode Well, the serverly so he's been being a punk. He's over the top You're not in Syria you're not in a rock They blew up the gate They're not gonna come on the shining path. No, I'm not any path Whatever.

Yeah, anyway, so to convoy ops they go and at some point supposedly like the better part of the episode, right? I mean they use there were clips out of this that were from clear and present danger the actual movie 1994. Yes. Yes The parts where the white SUVs get blown up and stuff That was serious serious.

Yeah, that's the truth. It's true thing. Pretty severely is saying the same. I am well That's because I'm right as per usual.

You're not come on. Yeah, I'm not So so we've now got links to red October and clear president Jag is all over ripping off Tom Clancy scenes. Well, that's okay Right if you got to rip somebody off. He's the best guy to rip it off from the time.

Yeah, absolutely So I thought it was a pretty exciting. You know what I liked about this. No, I can I share it with everybody is a little sidebar All right, so when harm gets off the C-130 Josh I have to explain this because clearly the listeners can't see it But Josh is just reclined in his chair and he is looking forward But I just want to say that when harm and Meg get off the C-130 when they first arrive in Peru They have a tiny little duffel bag and flash forward into the part where we are now in the episode when the ambassador's like Well, I hope you brought your dress whites and guess who did crumpled in that small duffel bag when they exited the C-130 Was their dress whites and that's what harm gets dressed in to go on a convoy This is this is a where I you know you mentioned I jumped ahead in all these episodes You did I did I I archive some pretty interesting facts about Lieutenant commander commander This is where I go to sleep with Rob This is where I let Josh take the mic because he's clearly spent hours at the Library Congress I mean it was only like two miles away as a crow flies But instead of our you know tabulating how many aircraft these flown what different times they were I should have been totaling how many dressed whites he's gone through That's what those are the kind of stats. I should have been you know what I love the fight scene though I I love the fight scene I love that they get into what in security forces logo and army I'm sure you can relate to Marines god bless you.

You can probably relate to the old fatal funnel Yeah, drive down and there's not any damn way to get out of that place and that's where these guys drive right into the center Hill and and old wait wait oh stop the tape so Center of hell and you're giving me all this crap about oh, it's leave up a room. It's so safe. Please. I love that you take the I love that you take English I understand.

Yes. Well, I'm being Margaret Thatcher again. I do love my because during this whole fight scene Okay, well, but I just thought the ambassador came across a bit Margaret No, it took it she she so during these fight scenes She's she's the one she goes she took she took she's talking about before she goes on the actual convoy sure and there they're they're putting on her Flack best and she's like does this really work and the gunnery sergeant says yes ma'am I'll stop at nine mill at point blank range and she says well, what if they pointed my head? Gunnery sergeant like not even a pause says well you need to duck ma'am best line in the whole damn show I didn't really take a best line from the whole show, but that was a pretty funny scene I was great you know during the whole commotion with all the SUVs getting blown Say the name was language say the funnel of death what did you say?

Funnel fatal fatal fatal fatal fatal final it's like when you go down, but you hadn't figured it Okay, so the fatal the whole time she's like God awful I mean it was so exciting, but I love it I got this damn woman whining through the whole thing like super loud. I'm like over these explosions. I'm hearing about Don't even want it No That's what she'd say I don't think she'd say that yeah, and that took me out of the scene I mean that's what I'm trying to say. I'm so into it.

I think they call it a leisure suit No, I don't think it could no Anyway, so the gunnery sergeant puts on the khaki shirt blue pants with the red stripe down and All of a sudden at some point when they're getting I mean, maybe this is what we do when we go in a convoy It's like everybody dress your best harms and his whites megs and her whites and Like the chokers. They're really nice whites like the dress whites, which I don't know when you went TDY last with your Mess dress your call never actually gone TDY with my mess But apparently maybe people do because the ass whites ready to go you do you really do especially when you're going to an Opacidorial Vacation where they going to I never really picked up on that their dedication of what of the hospital of where in the Peru the children's hospital Like lots of children there they need a hospital.

It's just that old lady morning blah blah blah and she pops up and bam takes gunny out right and who's really just Struck by this death of gunny the person who's been arguing with him every step of every ticket list Meg Austin Yeah, I'm sure she was just hit hard by the I don't want to choose bitching out the whole time It's really difficult to not transition into an English accent right now, but Meg heartbroken over this guy. No, she was no She was really gunny.

I thought I didn't really like you, but at the end of the day You're a good marine and I'll shut a tear for you No, she was heartbroken over the back that she was wrong about him the whole time she wasn't wrong about him No, she was not trained as a trained murder You know and I'm glad we agreed on that and you know what really made me mad What really? That's what she's wrong. We didn't agree on that.

She was right. So so but you know what really made me mad about this whole scene They leave it behind out. They leave him behind they load up in the S in the Humvee I didn't leave him behind you didn't see the pickup crew. No after the back.

Alright, here's here's something that I found very Disconcerting if you will and I don't know if you will if you will have caught this when you watch the episode of course I did I don't think you did but the corporal who shot the young man at the in the opening scene of the episode par yeah corporal par He is now Working he's armed up for one thing so he's got a weapon on his person to defend himself and he's working the radio during this top Secret convoy operation because nobody knew where this convoy was going so he's basically the RTO for this whole thing I'm not sure I was gonna know what an RTO is well it's old school radio telephone operator It's the radio guy. He's like your your guy. That's relaying information Okay, maybe that guy yeah, he's that guy anyway that would never happen Why he's never gonna get a gun he's relieved of duty He's the only one left he's potentially accused of murder Yeah, any is really the only guy at the embassy and and his girlfriend is just wandering around Oh, she needs a side look she's wandering around Not a single guard around she's all hanging out in the hallway.

Hey car bro. Yeah So he can so he doesn't confront her but Meg in a desperate plea calls back to the embassy He of course answers the phone because he's the guy and she says dude your girlfriend. What is her name? Man square got it Tiana Meg says Tiana Tiana is part of the shining light the shining path path She's part of the shining path dude.

She's in the embassy. She's gonna try to kill you You need to kill her first and this corporal part like no way she can't be you can't be doesn't answer Meg's call in fact he hangs up on her makes like oh crap I'm we gotta get back to the embassy because the old girls gonna kill par and then the embassy's gonna be taken over by these shining Path people god knows what the hell's gonna happen then so So park decides to go ahead and confront his girlfriend Seniora Tiana and she it's I don't know she pulls on him Well, she's at the top of the staircase and he says Tiana We need to talk and she's got her hands behind her back and she says you're scaring me car pop hard. Yes, it's getting me Yep, is that good Spanish? No, it's not actually how do they actually how would she say well?

I don't know why you know Spanish accents. It's just getting me it alludes you very much godfathers Scaring me or drackele So yeah, that's France Anyway, she says you're scaring me Don't why are you pointing your gun at me? And he says you stand down you're you're bad and she's like he says show me your hands show me your hands woman And she's looking at my hands up and I wash them and he says oh show them to me and she she Surptitiously puts this rifle in the folds of her. Yes.

Well, it was it was a bit of a rifle She puts it in the folds of her dress And so she's then free to bring her hands around to the front side of her and she shows him her hands And she's like you see I have nothing to hide. I don't understand what's going on I think she's gone from like sort of Spanish to sort of Italian to sort of check his oblochian in about three minutes Because of me because of you because of me. No, I don't know how to do it check. Yeah, Republic Really something yeah, I'm sorry At any rate really So he questions her she's then she pulls out the gun when he least expect it He draws quick quick drama girl He shouldn't even have a gun because he's really good And we never give people really to do the authority to bear arms But he does and pop out and she's like ping ping and he's pop out.

She's ping ping and at the end of the day She's on the floor. He's okay. He picks her up her hair's all in her face And I thought they should have fixed that for the scene because it's not doesn't look romantic when her hair is covering her face It's like it could have been romantic though because it proves that he was he was in love with her But he says plainly that he's a bad person which he I don't think he wanted to believe the whole time well So I don't want to believe it but he had to do it. He had to do yeah, so he shoots her That's that's not really the end.

It's not really the end but for all in The episodes it's the end basically she's bad her mother was bad, but it turns out they weren't not a bit more related Her brother was bad. They were all part of the shining It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.

Oh So then what I don't know that they ever really close a loop with the ambassador although I did like the clips that they interjected of Clinton Oh, there was just a one but yeah, it was kind of funny because they went to all the effort to get it Thanks, and he hangs up a phone. I mean he said thanks. No, I know he said thanks But I'm just saying like that's a lot of effort for literally I don't know seven seconds of Bill Clinton No, but I mean it's also president talking to his ambassador at a time when she was very stressed out maybe but So she gets not the ambassador, but Tiana gets killed and Next time where we see the kind of funeral scene where they're loading up a gunny's body into this Yeah, I am I didn't like this now.

I didn't really care for the scene I didn't like this at all it had the potential of really wrapping up the show well to be able to end well Yeah, instead jag always feeling like they have to insert a line of humor in a very serious scene I don't think it was so I don't think they meant it as humor They were trying to show the transformation of this corporal from sort of a I was you know And it was bad was just telling he yelled at one of the dudes to tighten it up lock it up No, it was more than that. He's like so folks. Let me let me uh build the scene for you We're out on the airfield. There's a C-130.

It's waiting to receive the body of gunnery sergeant. I hate officers That's okay You've got the Marine Corps contingent standing at parade rest waiting for the reception of the body at which point they would come to attention the body is offloaded by Marines in their dress uniform and Corporal par goes over to his like five marine buddies. They're at parade rest and he's like Jones Whatever the guy insert name here. Suck your gun in.

What do you think this is? Ciao Hall line and then that the bias of course moved to the yeah Yeah, it was bad. It was terrible. It just kind of just really ruined the entire scene I mean they could have had they not had that one line in there It would have boosted my rating for the entire episode.

Yeah, the one line really did and Disrespectful that would never happen especially with Marines would never happen and it it just took out of the scene I think it took me out of the scene. It was like, yeah, that's not something that would probably happen and Just cheesy kind of ruin that I was a at the end of the day. It was a really good Marine I know I know a little bit harsh, but he was good and he saved lives Yeah, I think the intent they were just again trying to show the transformation of this guy and they They just kind of failed so it's pretty sure Billy's though. I think no we've lost him.

No because this is what happens because I I listened to last week's episode And I heard how I was gonna give it an eight and you're like oh, I was gonna give it an eight, but I guess I Don't want to rate the same rating as you. I was just trying to be funny. So tell me what to think for real. It's all right For real.

Yeah, I like this episode really that's some action. I really didn't maybe a six and a half six and a half Yeah, I was gonna give it a six and a half I knew it this week I Did you always go lower than could you just go higher? No, no, no, I actually just give it a second Okay, I'll give it a six and a half I'll give it a seven Because it had the the action in it and what I take away from it in terms of why it wouldn't get say the full high score is just the Behavior of the ambassador. I found pretty pathetic given the fact that you did not like it I thought she was was was a tooth if you will yes bloody hell really.

Oh, yes Oh, yes, it was like quite so bad. I yeah I actually found her to be a bit hard hard, but not No, so she took me out of the episode. She definitely took me out of the best scene horrible act She took me out of the best scene which was the blowing up of the Yeah, she took me out of it and then that part of the end took you know took me out of that scene too Okay, so but I still give it a seven because it was actually packed and so on and so forth so Great that was quite an analytical. I mean, what am I gonna do?

I will say it probably doesn't really deserve a seven to worry think about it because Meg took me out of the episode Why did she know she didn't she's a bit harsh? I think sometimes, but I think that's that's okay It's okay to be harsh. She speaks Spanish for another which survived them when they were in the chapel scene Survive them which enabled them to survive in the chapel scene. She's so so she speaks Spanish And then she what else did she do she found around the shell Well, whatever which proved that a shot had well, it improved But it was certainly good evidence towards the fact that a shot had been fired at the corporal who returned fire Once again makes off the case you don't like her.

I thought that gunnery sergeant was over the top well He was over the top from day one really take him snipers at the airport. Come on. It's Lima Peru dude You're not in downtown, so I know I'm gonna give it a six. I'm gonna change my reading because So you do that just upset me no so I can't change your rating after you already gave it I was just trying to be nice to you, but I can't in good conscience and you know our listeners deserve more They deserve my true feelings on this episode and Anyway, so I don't change my rating.

I don't change my rating a damn bit well I stick with what I said good good Good fine, but I would say I would submit that you're probably not being intellectually honest Right through that but that's okay. All right, so I think we're good on this episode right war cries lots of crime and Lots of time I didn't cry either, but I like the market that you're lady. She's fun.
