FIFA President Gianni Infantino walked back on his USD $20-billion proposal to sell stakes in the World Cup and other FIFA competitions to private investors. Thrive Eternal, founded by Joshua Kushner, was expected to be the main investor. His brother, Jared Kushner, is the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump. The governing body scrapped its plan, following fierce opposition from three of six football confederations.
