Soldiers, don't give yourselves the brutes. Men who despise you and slave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who treat you, die of you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men. Machine men with machine minds and machine hearts.

You are not machines, you are not cattle, you are men. You wanna fight? I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubble.

Welcome to the Sucker Punch podcast, which Sam and Nate have been a long time. It is 2020. And we're here to talk about Conor McGregor's comeback. All right, so what UFC was this here?

246. So Conor McGregor comes back after what, how long has he been gone? 15 months after getting choked out like a beeb and making up fantasies about how well he did and parts of that fight. I remember him talking about like he goes, if you look at that last round, I was getting better of him.

I'm like, what are you talking about, man? Yeah. Like you were in a fight. You know, of course you hit him.

It wasn't, it was as one-sided as it could have been. When you have two good fighters in a cage. But it was one-sided. It was one-sided.

Could be he had that fight? I don't think he lost around. Did he lose around? So, you know, McGregor is trying to make himself feel better.

I wish he would have just said, man, he totally, you know, did this and that, but I did my homework. That was the best thing that could ever happen. Like that's what I wanted. I was like, that was the best thing that could have.

It was better than getting choked out by Nate Diaz. You know what I mean? Like say that kind of stuff. I don't think he comes back really well.

I don't think, you know, of course he came back with a 40 second fight. I watched that 40 second fight a bunch of times and there's some beautiful stuff in it. Everybody's talking about these shoulder strikes. Like it's some brand new thing.

Nate Diaz, the Diaz brothers. I told you this before. I think he got that off the Diaz brothers. The Diaz brothers have been doing shoulder strikes since forever.

I've been seeing shoulder strikes since forever. They are not brand new. He didn't make anything up. He was fortunate to get a nose break, in my opinion.

He did a great job. I'm not taking anything away from him. I will say that when Dana White says before the fight that whoever wins this goes against Khabib or this and that, you have to wonder about whether something is up with that fight. I just, you know, cowboy falling like that and just it being that quick, it's probably 100 percent legit.

But me and you have always said there's nothing easier than faking a fight. It's just easy. It's even been proven that it's based on basketball games, football games, fights, boxing matches, anything that can be corrupted will be corrupted. Yeah.

Hold on. We have some technical difficulties just one second, man. All right, go ahead. Well, I mean, let's let's do something like that.

Yeah, yeah. I mean, it was it was beautifully done, beautifully, beautifully executed. Dana is still doing something corrupt by letting this guy that lost his last bow, comes back in the fight cowboy person who wins this fight. This could be it's insane.

The argument there is that why is this happening when there are plenty of other people in line? Funny. Oh, yeah. You know that I can go back in there and just guide it.

Tons of money, you know, because there was lots of bad blood. Everybody wants to see if honors learned anything. Any people like to see Connor get his ass kicked, you know, yeah, so that they're 15 month lay off. But you come back in and win one fight.

Yeah, I mean, ever since the acquisition of the UFC, I think that's probably been the worst thing is the how they diminish the rankings and the the devalued the belt. Like the belt doesn't really mean as much as it used to. It's the promo, you know, I was watching this movie. What was it called?

Like the fighting family. It's like a true story about this. The youngest girl to ever get into WWE or WWE. Yeah.

And it was a good, it was a fun movie, you know, it was a good movie. It was interesting. Yeah. But it just makes me think of like that promo that part where that blonde like talks smack to her and she just freezes.

And then even when she does her debut, she pretty much freezes again. And the champion like slaps her and then they get into the fight and whatever, you know, I guess they're scripted to win. I don't know. But the point is it's that's what the UFC feels like.

It's like if you could cut a promo, you know, it has nothing to do with. Because back in the day, Anderson Silver was one of the biggest stars and he had no promo. His promo was the highlight reel. You don't need a promo.

He has a body of work and it's really sad to see. And I think it started more with how they devalued DJ and that division than. And it almost happened while the rise of Conor McGregor came along. And it's like they saw that the value was in the sound bite and not the body of work.

I mean, even the fact that, you know, DJ has gone over there to become champion in another. Did he get the bell already in one? Thanks, sir. Or rise in or whatever.

But it's that dude is seriously one of the greatest of all time, if not the greatest of all time. To do what I mean, pound for pound to do what he's done. It's ridiculous. I still think that that fight against Henry Sohudo was way too close to give to Sohudo.

But regardless, one thing I hate is to see I wish he would have, you know, stayed to get that rematch. Even if he would have been a loss. God Henry Sohudo is like a tumor in that freaking division. No offense to tumors.

He really is. That's an horrible person. So I know he goes back to the promo because I'm guilty of it too. I enjoyed the rise of Conor McGregor, especially when he was, you know, maybe not 100% predicting.

This is what I'm going to do too. Yeah. You know, like with poor, poor, he's got a soft chain. He's got a little P head and I'm an about to bounce it off.

Yeah. And I enjoy that because you want, there's part of you that wants him to go in there and do it. And then there's part of you that wants him to go in there and get his ass knocked out by me. Yeah.

I mean, look at, you know, so he's not a very, you know, it's our fault too. They're just trying to sell fights, especially, you know, they're wanting somebody to fight for every car, like, it has to be a title fight. Right. I did enjoy that.

They're kind of making a decision. Yeah. How did you feel about that, that, uh, bad motherfucker belt, as far as like the fight when it, when it happened? I mean, I think it was legit.

There wasn't, I just think like, they probably should have let that round go at least one more round. Just because I do think Nate, like, I think it was, Nate got busted up and, you know, it was fairly one-sided, but Nate is just Nate. I mean, it's not the first time you've seen him in that kind of position and what he's capable of, capable of doing in that kind of position. And, uh, I would like to have seen that fight, but I also understand it, you know, I understand it.

Right. I believe so. And they see something that we, but I mean, we have to keep the safety of the bider in mind, even if the bider, a Nate Diaz, that was like Nate, the hardest sounding person on the planet. I don't know.

I don't want to see him take necessary. Yeah. Yeah. It should have had.

Yeah. It's older. Well, I hope that guy comes back and I want to see him in some real, I want to see the Nate Diaz, uh, conner fight that needs to happen. Yeah.

So looking at these, uh, rankings right now, let's see, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, don't, do. Conner doesn't seem to be on the UFC's, uh, Walter weight rankings. Um, but he did. Just, uh, be cowboy and that's weird.

Cowboy's not even really in here. Um, but at 155 counters rank number four, right in front of, uh, Donald. It's so weird. So who does he fight next?

Well, that he's not ranked at 170, but they fought at 175, and it's two guys that, like Donald, isn't. ranked am I missing it he's not ranked at 170 in the top 15 and neither is Connor on the UFC's page on the UFC's website so they're not neither one of them are ranked in there and they're literally fighting at 174 a chance to beat to fight Khabib freaking retarded I'm sorry it's mentally challenged that was my whole rant like it just it doesn't make sense to be taken as a rough-ended soft corruption they know that that fight I mean honestly you could put you can put McGregor in there with anybody he's gonna make fun yeah well what does Donald do next you got Donald's ranked number five right above right in front of Paul Felder which I think a Donald Serone and Paul Felder fight wow Dan Hooker at number seven Donald's five Paul Felder six Dan Hooker seven Kevin Lee eight Al Aikinta nine and Edson Barbosa at ten I mean dude I would like to see Donald Serone fight any of those guys yeah any of them Anthony Pettis is there did they fight already yeah yeah yeah yeah remember he's someone that cost her only with that liver yeah the liver kick oh okay wait who did Pettis or Edson yeah but yeah man yeah yeah those those Pettis so I mean that's all of those are honestly Connor fighting any of those guys but he's not gonna fight any of those guys he needs big name guys so Justin Keitchi is number three Dustin Poier Connor McGregor number two for their rematch which that would those two fights would be great I think if I was Connor I'd go against a Dustin Poier because he has a better chance of beating Dustin than he does against Keitchi and he'd be jumping over Keitchi of course Keitchi would talk even more shit because he would be like oh you're you're you're ducking me and he would be rightfully in a very smart way I think Connor has to go back to 155 because if you look at the top 10 it's the only person I could see him you know doing great against top 10 is Robbie Lawler ten Anthony Pettis Nate Diaz Steven Thompson Damon Damian Maya Rafael dos Anos Leon Edwards Hohem Masbidal at number three Colby coming in and Tyrone Woodley is number one contender and then of course the champion Usman I think all of those guys are horrible except for Anthony Pettis and I hate to say this Robbie Lawler honestly that's I take that back I think Robbie Lawler fight against Colby coming in was it partially and a non anomaly and I don't I think you know whether there was something wrong or whatever he just had a bad day I think that's what it was because it was it seemed weird something in that fight seemed weird but I mean think of him I think Anthony Pettis would be his best matchup because Anthony Pettis is really a 155 then Nate Diaz a number eight would be a great rematch or trilogy Steven Thompson would be interesting I just think to you see sometimes and probably too big and too elusive for him and be kind of boring but I also think it'd be interesting man imagine him against Damian Maya and number six I think I think Maya could easily take a break I think it would be like um freakin could be yeah I think it would be very similar not exactly the same and then I but I think out of the top 10 his best bet would probably be Rafael dos Anos he's a ranked number five above Leon Edwards Jorge Masi that Colby coming in Tyrone Woodley and I think the top four guys are bad news for McGregor Leon Jorge Colby and Tyrone think they're all bad news so just needs to go back to 125 I mean and Dustin Poyot well Tony's number one but if he's number Connor's number four you got Justin Gacy Dustin and Tony I say go for Dustin it's compelling it's a truly it's a rematch it'll probably end up being a striking game that Connor could win the fight I want to see him it's I want to see him fight Justin Gacy and get into a horrible fight and I think he could be Justin yeah I think he could still beat him I also think you know Dustin or Justin destroys his legs and you know spit blood in his face and just turns it into one of the greatest fights of all time man him and Tony Ferguson that would be a crazy fight I would be I don't even know what that's gonna be like yeah I'd like to see him against Edson Barbosa number 10 oh god I'd like to see him against Alec you yep Kevin Lee Dan Hooker Paul Felder yeah the Irish American versus the Irish and now that in New York the place would feel crazy and Paul Felder fight in the audience yeah I know it'd be crazy that would be crazy but I don't see him going backwards in the top 10 not for those names like Al maybe I don't see you know there's not they're not gonna build anything out of Kevin Lee and Dan Hooker Paul Felder maybe but after that it's you know I think it's really the top three guys he needs to fight one of them Justin Dustin and Tony those three would be big huge fights other than you know the Nate Diaz or Jorge Masbudov fight those are the five names besides could be yeah it's either Jorge Nate if he's trying to make anything happen at Walter wait those are the names you should go after and if he's trying to get back to Khabib those fights would just make him tons of money and I think he could be one of those three guys I think he could be Dustin I and Justin I but I don't think he could be Tony he got beat and then he said fuck that I'm better than that guy and he went he's been on a tear man yeah I mean he's worked his way what was he ranked then I'm not even sure but he's he's number two right now yeah you know like he's one of those that he did exactly like we were talking about like you know he may not have put on the wrestling chops but he went back and was like no man I know my stand-up's better than this you know yeah and he just put in the work to get you know ranked number two which is amazing yeah it's crazy I would love to see that rematch because I don't think he's gonna be he's not gonna be as affected by the trash talk of him right now no he's gonna be more comfortable in the octagon you know what I mean and I would love I would honestly love to see that over any other flight like I think the Nade Diaz fight has to have I honestly love to see or your kid is get it is win back yeah it would be one of the biggest like tragedies to not see or Nade Diaz in and Conor McGregor trilogy I mean it just makes tons of money you know those honestly you know the one thing that they have in common is I think that Conor McGregor and Nade Diaz could both lose and you know like countless times and we still want to see them fight it's just weird yeah it's just weird and I think Nade Diaz even more just because he he out strikes people he overwhels people he comes from behind and does crazy stuff he went you know he'll choke you out with a bloody face like it's just crazy man it's crazy what that it does well hey man let's do this one you went so Roney's one of those that I think he should retire but I'm always excited to see him fight yeah we get the chance because he's one of those that you can learn from while you're watching yeah oh my god like that he was fighting a group of one two and then to the body that landed flush and then he came up top of the high yeah it was a beautiful just like it was like that yeah it was a combo it was like textbook it was like a you know he was working mitts you know it was a beautiful demonstration that's exactly what it looked like beautiful demonstration well I wanted to just touch base on two things quickly before we sign off one the announcement of Israel Adesane versus Joelle Romero for the belt your thoughts what are they I just I think that Osso no is on the rise we're gonna see can get better and better with every title contention I just I don't I mean I know call it what it is but like when you look at guys with that body type like Romero and I know people argue with me all the time but I'm just like this guy he doesn't have the body structure to be the champ one if he wins if he comes to the champ he's not gonna be the champ very long but I guess you could say that about it anyway right right but Adesane has a fighter's frame he has a fighter's body and Romero looks good with his shirt off on the beach yeah and I'm not I mean he's an absolute monster like I wouldn't want to have to back my bones up by getting into the gate yeah yeah well you're not saying you I don't see him I don't see him no I cannot beat him now I don't I think it I think it's gonna be like Robert Whitaker except maybe even cleaner you know I mean I think that you well you know I think well let's put this way the top five contenders right now is Darren Till Jared can near your well Romero Paulo Costa and Robert Whitaker he just beat Robert Whitaker I think when I when I called Robert Whitaker to lose that fight I said that look at Robert Whitaker's wars with your well Romero the world Romero is not a beautiful striker and he's in a war with him if you're in a striking match with an Olympic wrestler then both of you are not great strikers it's just I don't care nobody can dedicate themselves to wrestling so much so that they get to the Olympics and did he was the gold medalist over at bronze I don't know but I believe he won a medal but let's just say he didn't even win a medal just to dedicate yourself to wrestling enough to get to the Olympics where you're on the world stage of all wrestlers on the planet that have dedicated themselves wrestlers you probably didn't spend a lot of time and you're striking game so now you're in a striking match against steroid sponsored supermodel Paulo Costa and Robert Whitaker all right these guys both got into these major striking matches with your world Romero and they didn't look like they were just it wasn't like oh getting into a striking match with let's say John Jones or Anderson Silva really I would say Anderson so more because John Jones has been hitting more than Anderson Silva easily and whenever John Jones whenever I understand was in a striking match with somebody like a your well Romero polyca so Robert it just was a clean fight where he just ends up finishing them and Israel did that to Robert Whitaker did he get hit a couple times yeah but even in the midst of getting hit he throws a technically short hook that knocks him out that your well could not do in two five round fights and Paulo Costa could not do in a three round fight a three round fight where those two dudes look like they were both gonna pass out both your well and Paulo are getting knocked out by Israel as my prediction if they don't get knocked out they're just gonna thoroughly get beat up four or five rounds I think that how to Sonia still has holes in his game it can be exploited yeah but is your will merrow gonna be smart enough fighter to explain those things you know what what I wish was happening and I don't know it might be happening but I wish that Israel I know I know that Israel is wrestling a lot he's with a good wrestling crew team but it'd be cool to see him like go and train with Usman especially because like they're both from Nigeria and then Usman's really I mean God man if those two guys could just learn off of each other yeah Usman would be a better striker and he would be a better grappler and they could just like sit on top of those divisions for a while I mean that would be great that'd be great I don't understand why there's not more of that seems like fighters to do that all the time yeah and maybe it's just because they feel that their camps are more complete now you know well I think they're there you know probably their managers are saying hey man we don't know what's gonna happen in the future whether Usman comes up to middleweight to challenge or you drop down there with champion versus champion you could be a two belt champion and you probably be better at dropping a Walter Waid than going up to John Jones at the time I mean it would be better like if he dropped fought Usman I don't think they ever would do that they wouldn't you know I mean but you know he would do that and then go up rather than go up and then you know I mean if you wanted to do the doubleweight or triple weight champion kind of thing but which brings us to John Jones and Anthony Smith on February 8th it's right after my best my birthday weekend and I'm so I'm sorry Dominic Reyes yeah I just read Anthony Smith while I'm looking at the ranking no Dominic the Devastator or the Destroyer the Devastator that's great you want to go there you go he's a silver medalist I'm just saying he doesn't have hands man you just don't have it yeah you're not gonna come out being a silver medalist and then all of a sudden that 40 be like an amazing boxer get out of here it's not happening you know same thing with the me whether and then you're not gonna all of a sudden be a great wrestler you had a been doing it think about the entire Wilder's comments about I think he would kill somebody you know people could say what they want but I think he would kill somebody I think he would freakin kill somebody people don't understand dude they don't even understand his hand would explode that's the only back the the drawback his hands will explode as he smashes this guy's facing they don't they don't people don't get it man they don't get it they he's pure boxing into you see they'd have to put him against somebody I mean I'd like to see him against the ocean you know somebody like that oh yeah he's like no yeah I mean I think like you know saying oh I might kill somebody in there I think 100% you know if you put him against the Alistair overing you know and Alistair's like throwing kicks and all that you got you got a problem but Alistair overing will fall asleep if you you know hit him with a feather pillow right now that dude's been knocked out so many times you know the people that I think are bad for him is probably DC although he's so short he probably won't even get close enough I think steep is a bad matchup for him the people I would match him up with would be in Ghana because that would be a crazy you know big draw maybe that's it that's it there's nobody that's it yeah that's the only people I would match him up against in Ghana he will brutalize in Ghana quickly success that they make these calls like what you'd be upward he said yeah but it's never gonna happen I mean I'm getting James Tony to come in there and get beat in a matter of seconds my Randy gets what was like what were they thinking yeah yeah well what was no knows well Nate I'm gonna have to sign off man thank you for joining me for this episode thank for everybody out there you know the four people that are listening you you really keep us going yeah mom my sisters they don't listen they don't even listen to this who ever heard anything I appreciate you all man and until next time and we definitely got to get together of February 8th new John Jones and I'm calling the major upset and which it means John Jones a win and I'll be majorly upset no I want I'm rooting for Dominic Cruz I think Dominic Cruz has all the gifts I think I think he hits hard enough that John Jones is gonna fight a little too respectful and that could be the problem you know I mean it could be you know that could be a problem like especially if he lands one that he wakes him up he might be a little too respectful go for takedowns that he you know that Dominic might be ready for and you know that's how I see his loss happening I see his win happening in you know the way he usually does kind of like with Anthony Smith it's just gonna go and go and you're gonna kind of run around and pick him apart but I don't I think it's gonna be different I think it's gonna be different than that but we'll see man thank you for your time dude and I'm out
