Soldiers don't give yourselves the brooks men who despise you and slave you who rich amaze your lives tell you what to do What to think about the field who treat you die to treat you like cattle use your skin and father Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men machine men with machine minds the machine hearts you are not machines You are not cattle you are men you want to fight I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass Welcome to the second punch podcast with Sam and Nate we are back to break down these are our thoughts on the steep-famey old chitch Daniel Kornay Trilogy so I recently watched the first fight and the set I'm watching the second fight and I'm in the like second round let's see This is the beginning of the third round and do you see he's looking good? I'm not a fan of how his strategy is but he's looking good. What do you think about the fight? You who do you think is gonna win?
So I think that it's probably gonna go for that Maybe not a lot of the same as the last fight, but I do think that a you know You know Like me oh, it's all the way a hundred percent. No, I mean you can never say that against DC You know, I think that I think that maybe DC slowed down a little bit when there's what we won yeah something like that And I think he may be right about points where you know his feet just aren't as under him anymore Yeah, I think that the object still has that drive and still has that fire, you know, and I think that He's gonna pull it out, but I wouldn't be surprised if corny, you know, you can't even say pull the upside right You know, he's the champ, but you know corny is I mean, he's just on a he's a different level of him Yeah, yeah, I'm losing to John Jones and this guy right it could be in his head to be in his head Yeah, I think it's real difficult and then I was looking at the first fight and If there's anything that I saw I mean, I thought DC did a great job in the first fight He came in there to win, you know, I mean, yeah, like he comes in to win I mean who doesn't you know saying but he didn't come in like there's a difference between like You know being timid, you know, I'm saying he there's no there's none of that You know when he walks in there as a heavyweight And in the first round, you know the first fight it ended in two rounds. It was only like, you know Really wasn't that long of a fight and there was an eye poke that happened Right before he ended up knocking out me. Oh shit So we could say hey that that had an impact on the outcome of that first fight And then I'm watching the second fight and in the first round It's all DC the second rounds a little more competitive the third rounds looking even more competitive And I know I was watching a interview with me.
Oh, chitch And he was saying like in the fourth round he just felt great for whatever reason like, you know He said now I'm moving my feet and you know, so maybe going into the later rounds We'll see me. Oh, like it leans more towards me. Oh, chitch. I just and it's like I'm calling DC based on legacy And based on you know his resume not not even the people he beat although that I think is a big thing But I also think like he just seems like that guy, you know, like and maybe he isn't you know So it's so hard I think this fight is so hard to call in that aspect in the sense like you don't know which DC is gonna be in there But the every DC that's ever been in there is a winner You know the only ones that he didn't win was when meou chitch put him to sleep and and and John Jones Jones So, you know, I just feel like he wants to retire, you know every you know all his quotes are like You can't train forever, you know, this is probably gonna be my life and you know nobody wants to Finish their career losing and especially on the trilogy match of his Heavyweight run and did he fight anybody else at heavyweight before he went to meo chitch?
I don't think so I mean, I know he started out in heavyweight, right? Well, yeah, so, you know, he comes from not Bellator. It's Elite Xe right was it called elite Xe, but it was like a Is it elite Xe it was strike force and then I think it became elite Xe or it might be vice versa on that Yeah, yeah, so it was a lead Xe and then became strike force or whatever But the point is he was there and that's where he was as a heavyweight and the reason he dropped to light heavyweight is because his homey came Velasquez was a heavyweight contender and came, you know, right in shop and he didn't want to be in the same division as him so yeah It's one of its as a heavyweight. He was undefeated and he was a monster Yeah, as a light heavyweight.
He was a monster and he was You know, it looks like he came in at it looks like he came in as a heavyweight because his first fight was with Frank near in the UFC Anyone second fight, Lily Nelson Patrick Cummins. Oh, wow and then Dan Henderson was that heavyweight? No, that's horrible No, I remember hating that fight because I was just like I like Dan Henderson But I didn't like seeing him get thrown around like that. He got just ragged on oh man.
That was crazy like Yeah, did you say ragdoll? Yeah? Yeah, I mean just like he picked him up like you were playing with a kid That was insane. Yeah, I think that was probably his light heavyweight debut Then he fought John Jones then he went in he beat Anthony Johnson Gustas and rumble.
Yeah, he fought Oh, that was after John Jones got booted. So I think him and rumble fought for a vacated title If I'm not mistaken Then he defended against Gustas and John Jones was supposed to fight him but silver stepped in three round decision with silver I mean, which is I mean silver Going up to light heavyweight against DC and go into decision on like three days notice Crazy he fought Anthony Johnson again For two round submissions second round submission got KO'd by Jones Then he beats Ozdamere by KO and second round KO then he makes his heavyweight day Well, I guess not heavyweight debut, but his return to heavyweight Yeah Yeah, and Jones was you know crashing and pregnant people You know doing his thing over there and so he wins by knockout They have it first round, but that was a second round knockout on me. Oh, geech It had to be a second round not go. There was no way that was perfect.
Yeah, the first fight that was a first round knockout Yeah, get the hell out of here. I thought that was a second man and set first round knockout, dude How crazy is that? That's what that's where I'm scared is because you know, I mean first about their heavyweights So I don't take much but I mean for them to even go full around because it was the fourth round and when Neo-chitch Not him out right. Yeah, fourth round in the second fight.
Yeah, I don't know man. I'm gonna call DC Have you heard the nonsense about going back to Anderson Silver real quick? Yeah about him and Pettis wanted to fight but being a white just kind of like squash that right away Anthony Pettis and and Anderson Silver fighter. Yeah, why at middleweight Anthony Pettis I could see him But it's like your your whole career was at such a lightweight like you're gonna be so much slower.
Yeah, that's crazy Yeah, like that's just a weird Match. I don't know if I even want to really see that. You know what I mean? Yeah, I don't even know where I wanna see dirt The beast the black beast Lewis fight next, you know, yeah guys.
I mean most heavyweight knockouts like that's nothing to sleep on You know what I mean? Oh, yeah, no, that's crazy. He looked honestly. He looked great in that fight I really look great up against a grappler and he you know, he defended the takedowns and He did he did really nice work and then coming into the second round I mean, you could tell that he did a lot of work on the ground going into that fight or just you know coming off of the Other fight I don't think it was he doesn't seem like the kind of guy and maybe I'm wrong of course But like a kind of guy that game plans more than like, you know, oh man I don't want to just get wrestled by these dudes that I know I can knock out so he he goes in there and he starts Working on his wrestling and he looked you know, he looked good He did he did look good like he worked on his wrestling his grappling and he looked scary, man He really does look scary.
I think he's one of those like a like he's definitely one of those people like you can never count that dude out Like you can he's kind of like for his Griffin where he looks tired all the time Rosen strike Let him fight the winner of junior dos Santos versus well good strike has he fought any of those guys good I don't think so. Yeah, if he hasn't fought them like let him fight those guys Because I think that that would be definitely like even if he fought the loser of that fight, which sounds weird but In the sense of like, you know, if you want to kind of give him and not easy But if you want to build him up because he's definitely I think a crowd favorite, you know, he lost the junior dos Santos Um Okay, well, I'm rematching so good, especially if junior loses, but that would suck if junior loses I wouldn't fight him because there's nothing to gain from it just lost loss, you know, yeah Yeah, so maybe the winner if junior wins that'll be a good rematch, but juniors lost his like you know, this is really for Rosen strike to come out and Kind of like because he just lost didn't he just lose to Who do Rosen strike just lose to he just lost to yeah and gano and gano so this is like, you know Trying to bring his name back up by giving him somebody that you know, it's probably a little past his prime But still has a big name like junior dos onions, you know, I mean, yeah, well, I mean dick was fun and gano Once and beat in gano by decision so that may be a good match, you know, I mean to have the rematch with those two I mean, I I I watch that. Oh, yeah, well, is it just does he have anything like a I mean obviously oh wait There you said Derek Lewis Versus Francis and gummy he won he won by decision. Oh damn unanimous decision.
Wow. Yeah that oh that's crazy That's crazy because Derek Lewis doesn't have that he has that name, but he doesn't have that like fame like that fear, you know Yeah, I can go still like that Francis man. Yeah I mean, it's you know a lot of it's a lot of it is the way that he looks you know, I mean, yeah Before you even stuck in the octagon you're already like Jesus's guys assessment Well, this this weekend is gonna be a little scary with this fight coming up this I I I don't know man. I just I'm I'm rooting for DC.
I think DC has everything he does some scary things in there But I think that um, you know Mio Chitch what he didn't do in the first like even the first second and third round of the rematch But he started doing you know, he he he pulled it out. He did the right things He did everything right, but I don't feel like DC was doing anything Let's put it this way. I feel like DC was doing a great job in the second fight and it was competitive and then me Ochich turned the top, you know turn the tables or the tie turn, you know, I mean it wasn't this like I was in control So there's still this element of it's up in the air. You could flip a coin I don't think anyone has it more than the other I do think that meo Chitch is not utilizing something that he needs to utilize Which is just his height and reach and I think that's a testament to you know, DC's, you know, ring general ship or whatever octagon control Just the fact that he knows how to close the distance as a wrestler and and he uses his boxing.
Well to do that I think DC should really Try to threaten the takedowns more and not just be there, you know boxing so much because I think that's where he wanted, you know Right, I think Johnny Mio Chitch. He's got he's got I'd say above average boxing Like he does a lot of things where like they try to train it out of you where your throw a punch and your hand goes down Instead of like right back to the guard. Yeah, yeah, but he's got pretty crisp boxing, you know, just his Some of his fundamentals aren't there, but I mean like you said, he's not playing He doesn't seem to always be playing a strength He kind of even in that second side if I remember he seemed to kind of be playing into DC's game, you know playing too close and yeah Yeah, it's it's weird and so I'm watching it now and in at the beginning of the fourth rounder in the fourth round is where he's putting that pressure You know, this is where he decides, you know what? I'm gonna put pressure on on DC and it's like I think that's where he's gonna win the fight is walking DC backwards You know, I mean, yeah, but I think that's where it's also difficult because when you're walking back a I don't know what what is he division one wrestler, you know, just this here's where he starts throwing body shots to that liver That was where it was all everything that was everything just kick I need to go back and watch that.
Yeah, yeah, just watch the fight cuz like in the fourth round He just by halfway through the round. He's already hit him twice in the body and it's like come on But that's 101, you know boxers strikers. I mean honestly fighters I don't you know whether you're a muy tie fighter kickboxer a boxer if you're a striker you're going to the body and Now there's three shots to the body once he started doing that it it changes your posture it changes the way you move And he did that great, but he did it in the fourth round and I just think like I think it's like this It's like you did that and that's what won you this second fight But I don't think that's hard to like adjust to you know, yeah, dang. He does such a great job You got to watch this fourth round.
He starts going to DC's body beautifully Yeah, if he does if he does that in the and that's what he needs to do just just box him man Just box him keep range go to his body just box him if dang dude He's hit him in the body like six seven times seriously He just keeps going interested in it in this fight because DC was calling out me Richard a lot about come on man. Let's fight. What are we gonna get this on? We're gonna get this on the air church was saying like well, you know my Jen's clothes.
I can't train, you know So was he doing what was he doing in his offices and I guess if you want to call it his office You know, I mean like was he was he training because I know he still works as a firefighter and Was he you know, I mean you have to assume he seems like a pretty professional guy. Yeah, you have to assume that he's doing something to keep his Window, but yeah, he looks great in those embedded Um Episodes, but I tell you what dude. I'm watching this fight now and in round I'm gonna rewind this I don't know what we'll do it right now, but I'll tell you this I Then he dances his little Irish I swear dude watch round four and count how many times he goes not just to the body because you go to the body But it's like the liver side right that that right It's the right side. Yeah, it's the right side He's going to the liver, you know, he's just hitting that side of the body and he goes to it consistently Repeatedly and over and over beautifully in this fight and I'm just like well if DC could fix that You know, I think DC wins and I think the biggest problem is that DC was moving back almost entirely in that fourth round and You know, I think if DC uses his boxing to pull I mean all he has to do is threaten more takedowns You know just threaten more takedowns.
I don't know if that's all he has to do But that's my simple way of putting it. Yeah No, I mean, I think you're right. I think I think you know should like thinking about it now He's gonna have to he's gonna have to come out there or something different this fight, you know, and that's crazy that we're talking about the champ, right? What's crazy that we're saying, you know, you know, you know, he won the last fight Here's what he's gonna have to do different if he wants to keep it up, you know, I mean, yeah But I mean I just showed you that that's the kind of animal that DC is, you know Yeah, you see one of those guys that man, that's it's freaking intelligent man And he's even though I mean you kind of cringe sometimes when you're watching a fight, but he puts his hands on people a lot, man Yeah, he's not picking up and throwing you down.
He puts his hands on The first fight was pretty I mean you could you could say that first fight was one sided The second fight was not one sided the fourth round was but the second fight wasn't one side It was competitive all the way up until the fourth round and and meoches made the proper adjustments but making the proper adjustments during a fight and and Coming into the fight with the right strategy. I don't know. It's just it's a very interesting fight and you know I say DC, but you know, it could literally be a first round knockout by meo chitch just like it was for DC I just have a feeling, you know, it's that legacy. I feel like meo chitch I don't know how old he is, but I feel like you know when you look at the the career It's not the same as DC.
It's not the same Right, you know in caliber in who he ran through and in all the things that DC has done And that doesn't mean anything when you fall asleep, you know I mean he got crumpled in that second round So, you know just the fact but it has that story, you know And when you live that story you might believe that story and that story could really empower you You know it could give you that fuel and I think that you know all fighters Especially these wrestlers and people like DC who's had that kind of legacy and he's now an announcer and all those things It it just lends itself well to giving you the fuel you need to to just like go out and just persevere and make the adjustments Because you have all that experience and he is old, but he ain't that old, you know what I mean? He's still one of the most dangerous big toddlers You ever see? No, he's one of the biggest thing is he does is body looks just like a toddler like a strong toddler And I mean he's done so well like you never really see him gasp I mean you can you see him get tired, but that I mean the freaking heavyweights, you know Yeah, but for as much like fat that he like keeps on his body. It's amazing that he doesn't just land You know what I mean?
Yeah, and when you really think about the heavyweight division and this is like across the board When you think about the heavyweight division For me, there's only two heavyweights That really may and three because that's kind of no really there's only two heavyweights that like pop in my head You know what I mean? And it's it's Fedor a million ankle and and Daniel Cormier and DC I think they're two of the greatest and then you know if I wanted to elaborate on that I would say those are the two top two and you could put DC above it just because of the generation that you he had to fight through versus a million Incos, but yeah, you know you got the the frank mirrors though For Bricio where dooms that I wish I saw him fight. I wish I could see DC fight for Bricio I think for Bricio is other than Frank Mier Did Frank Mier and Fabrice ever fight because I think they are the two greatest jujitsu practitioners to ever do it here besides no Gare but but Frank Mier beat no Gare twice so that yeah negates no Gare. I'm sorry no Gare I love you, but then you have like you know, so it's it's like DC Fedor you got Frank Mier You got you know no Gare and Fabrice you'll right there, you know All just phenomenal grapplers, you know and then I will round the rest up with like, you know, Alistair Just you know, Alistair should be there because and oddly enough not only be how many people he's knocked out and how many fights He's won but how many times he's been knocked out and he's actually talks pretty decently.
I am baffled by it Baffled by that dude needs to stop. He's been knocked out here so many times I don't know. I mean King Velosquez is up there, but I really think King Velosquez like we could be real, you know He he beat Brock Lesnar and I will forever love him for that. It was just a great to watch but yeah Oh, yeah, kind of a shot But I You know not like I'm not gonna say like who I called it or I knew it I just to me like Fabrice is a monster man Fabrice is like Damian Maya, but better really in the heavyweight division He's yeah, so dangerous on the ground and him and I think Frank Mier and no Gare but it's just like Frank Mier beating O'Gare twice to me puts Frank Mier on the greatest jiu-jitsu practitioner in the heavyweight division ever You know, I don't know who's better because you think about who's who's a better jiu-jitsu practitioner than in the heavyweight division It's hard.
Yeah, you know, well, I think the thing is well. I mean it's you know nothing nothing against heavy guys, but Generally, there's something you know to be said about you get to be in kind of a lighter man's game Yeah, well and so we have people that move this like like fluidly as Frank Mier and for doom I mean, it's amazing. You know they move like both of those guys move like a hundred seven pounds. You just like it Well, it lends itself to a smaller pant smaller person's game because you know We're the ones that need it against big guys You guys just could just like hammer fish you on the top of your head and you're just like go my neck and brain You know, you know, they don't really have to you know You we we have to run circles around them kicking punching taking them down and doing everything that we can and if we put an arsenal of Submissions and grappling into it.
Well, damn it, you know, we're freaking ninjas, you know, it makes you feel like a freaking ninja But then you some you know a hole decided I'm gonna teach these big heavyweights how to do some missions. It's just not right We don't need that then walking the earth like, you know, some the look of nothing and and honestly luckily Big guys have that mentality that I don't need to learn to fight I'm big if I just touch you I'm like I'm 5 foot 7 and there's been so many times in my life when big dudes It's only well, you can box and kickbox and other stuff that you want, but I like to do is touch you once Yeah, that's the key. You think I've just been trained to let people get literally what I try not Yeah, I always said one of the greatest compliments I ever got was this big heavyweight I mean he was like I don't know six four or five, you know, and we sparred and You know as soon as I started sparring him. I'm like, why are you doing this?
This is stupid He's so big and he was a pro boxer in this past. He was an older guy, you know, but anyway at the end of all of it He's like I'll tell you what man. You're really hard to hit and I will always remember that because I'd rather Hear that then man. You could take a shot You know, I mean you can take a shot or you so durable.
I hate that when they say that damn I can't believe you did not you know fall on your face. I Am a mixture of two cultures that are known to be able to take a shot Yeah, and somehow when you mix those two cultures the Irish and the Mexican together Out of the sudden you get me who I don't want to find out how much of a shot I can take yeah, you know I take shot about James skipped me as soon as I get an Irish people So up together and popped out of baby. It was me and I was like I don't want to be here Yeah, I know I'd be good defensively and you know I think about that a lot now Yeah as I age right like how much of a fist right do I really want to be in compared to if somebody's really starting crap with me Just using good defense to really piss them off and wait for those sweet counters You know what I mean? That's why I want to be out there swinging fists.
Absolutely I think it's it's a it's a balance between those two things like you especially as you get older. I think it's Use all the elusiveness that you've ever learned in your life But as soon as you find the opening you know capitalized with your timing that you also learn throughout your life You know and yeah, and I just want to put this out there I have been through the ring and I can't take a punch just in case any of you It's like Yeah, I mean, you know, honestly, it's one of those things like I pride myself I'm being hard to hit but I've also you know taking that I've been kicked in the head punched in the face And I'm glad I'm so glad that as much as I've you know home the skill of trying to be elusive I'm glad that when I finally got caught I didn't just crumple like a house of cards. Yeah, well with that said you got me Oh to it on Saturday night. I think so You know that's your own I think you've got it least another good What would you say maybe three years?
Yeah fighting left in him whereas I think either way The Saturday night maybe one of DC's last fights. Yeah I mean that's no way to really pick that's just me like showing favoritism I guess but that has nothing to do with what skill sets They're bringing in on Saturday night. Yep. I'm going with DC, you know, I want him to solidify his legacy.
I Don't know I hate that. I don't know how old these guys are I'm trying to think you know, she's 37 and DC's 41 and they're not they're not young guys But me oh chitch could do it. He could come back. He could beat these guys I don't there's nobody like DC in the division not as dangerous as him like really when you think about it like yeah Of course, you know people like what are you crazy?
I mean who's really as dangerous as far as well rounded and experience? You know, I mean nobody. Yeah, there's nobody and gondos not as well Rounded and has that experience? You know Derek Lewis maybe but you know as far as experience and he's creeping on being well-rounded But he's not as well-rounded.
I just He did make that comment before that like, you know, he's he started taking his career serious and now yeah You know, it's just kind of like he was kind of like DJ Penn in the beginning who came out. Oh, he said DJ Penn in the beginning who came out Who in the beginning of his career, you know, even admitted to his boxing training came from him in the backyard and pretty unboxing was Yeah, you know, I mean just believe in yourself. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, and so I mean Somebody like somebody like Derek Lewis need to get coach under his ass, you know, that's gonna be good stuff, man Well, I don't know if I'm gonna make it out to New Braunful's or Santa I guess where we go, but I'm definitely gonna be watching and we'll see what happens man. It's gonna be historic It really is yeah, it'll be crazy because not with you. I'm not I won't be mad at whoever wins Yeah, I think you're right like to CDC like solidifies legacy that was meant he's been one of my favorite buyers for a long time Yeah, absolutely. I've always liked it was and it's hard to root against somebody like that, you know Well, when you have him who's just like a beast and not too many people have beaten him and then his his arch nemesis is John Jones is like snorting cocaine and running over pregnant women like it's really hard Yeah, that's a man.
It's really easy to John said a little more Yeah, he's like well, who do I choose in this? Well, I don't have a pile of coke in front of me So I guess I'll go with it, you know, but I think you have a pile of coke you're like well I can't be a judge I can't be judgy You and I from the beginning are two guys that should have looked at John Jones and loved him and just loved him But the tall, lengthy guy that uses his reach great fighter can't say anything about his fighting skills really But you and I both from the beginning of his career I remember us having a conversation about man. There's something about this dude's fake We had that conversation so many times every time his face was on camera And I mean it's the reason you know one like for your behalf. It's probably one of the reasons you're in the field that you're in You know, you know, it's just the ability to read people and yeah, and you know, it's like That's why we started doing podcasts here and there because we would have these conversations and it's like dang it I wish somebody would have because it's hard to claim it in the you know later on, you know But it's like if you heard us we were always and I mean I mean from when he was fighting like what was that guy Hamill From those times like when he was barely being I was like, I know something about this dude this fake Yeah, just something about it.
You could see he was You know every time he had a post-fight interview It was it was this like oh, I'm gonna say this and let me put on airs any Haskell It was an Eddie Haskell thing He had that Eddie Haskell vibe and I'll be straight. Yes, ma'am. Mrs. Cleaver Yeah, it was behind the scene these fucking the beef and the reason I game recognized game I was Eddie Haskell.
I've put on that face before so I know it. I see it. I could see it I'm like no, please get out of here and I could just you saw it I saw it was just like there's something off and it's like when you put on that Eddie Haskell face, man I'll recognize that man's gonna day to week but man when he was exposed and like that's when everybody came out of it Oh, no, man He's you know, well, he's the best ever and it's like that's all you can say because when he was fighting DC and they left those cameras on And he was mister Eddie Haskell in front of the cameras and then talking shit to PC when he fought the cameras were You know, well, you know, well, DC was making fun of them. The worst thing I think you know what and we could do a whole podcast on that is about I guess that I don't know if the right word is duality, but it's like I guess the person you are when you're not fighting versus the Person you are and it is duality.
It's like the person you are when you are fighting and it's like he did the opposite of what most fighters do Right most most real maybe not all of them But most fighters are like really nice outside and everything they're actually really nice people Or would you close that cage or you step in the ring or that person agrees to mutual combat and you're like, thank you Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to unleash the horrible demon that festers inside the pit of my belly And I'm gonna let him go rampant on your ass, you know, I mean, but he's the opposite He's like I'm gonna be a piece of shit outside and when I go and that's when I go. Hey, hi everybody like shut up man Just be who you are, you know, and he was either you know, I mean like maybe that's maybe that's even the best example But it's it is a good example because if you if you reflected off was like Mike Perry Like you just know that there's a piece of shit outside of the Yeah, there's no fan inside the out there. He's the same person. He likes the way that he is Yeah, they're just most fighters are just real.
They're an open wound man And they want to go and you know they have chosen the perfect path for themselves And you look at how about my foot off okay He's himself pretty well outside, but you know what never who was up to at all time when he was doing it Yeah, I would walk behind in the interview and he's a little bit passed to happen Yeah, that's just he's like, hey man, look, I'm a nice guy. I walk with my hands behind my back. I've had a shady pass I came from fighting in back yards. I came from nothing.
Yeah, you know, you're gonna cross around and send me back to come So you know, yeah, all right, man, we could do a whole we could do a whole podcast on the future But um, uh, we don't even have to stop talking, but I'm gonna stop I'm gonna stop this podcast Thank you for everybody for listening. You know, I will put a whole thing about you know liking and sharing or don't I don't care ready. You all have a good one. I'm out
