In the beginning, Adam used his words to pass the buck and blame Eve. We’ve been using our words poorly ever since. Genesis 3:11-12 NLT - 11 “Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.” Matthew 16:17-19 The Message - 17-18 Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out. Warriors use their words to restore identity and change someone’s destiny. Be a name-caller like Jesus was. Who can you begin name-calling in a way that brings them life and restores their identity in Jesus? Ex. You are a warrior! You are a disciple. You are a masterpiece! You are salt and light!
