Ouders van tegenwoordig willen dat hun kinderen gelukkig zijn. Ze moeten zomin mogelijk obstakels tegenkomen en leren al op kleuterleeftijd dat ze respect mogen verwachten van anderen. Het gevolg is dat veelvolwassenen het gezag kwijt zijn, dat veel kinderen weigeren te luisteren, dat ze niets doen waar ze iets minder happy van worden en dat schelden, schoppen en zelfs stenen gooien, niet meer afgestraft worden. Radiomaker Misha Koole sprak met peuterleidsters die kunnen voorspellen welke kinderen slecht terecht gaan komen, met leraren die zich angstig afvragen welke ouders ze krijgen in het nieuwe schooljaar, met ouders die streng proberen te zijn ondanks de afkeurende blik van anderen,met kinderen die hun ouders niet serieus nemen en met mensen die professionele hulp bieden om het kind weer de baas te worden.
