Zestiger Kees is vanaf zijn kindertijd bang van honden. Wanneer zijn vrouw Marjolijn in 1998 hoort dat zij ongeneeslijk ziek is, bedenken ze wat ze nog graag zouden willen doen. Het wordt geen wereldreis; Marjolijn wil graag... een hond. Er komt een labrador-pup, waarmee Kees op pup-cursus gaat. En, omdat een hond alleen maar alleen is, volgt een jaar later de tweede pup. Marjolijn wordt vanachter de computer actief in een opvang-organisatie voor honden uit Griekenland en Spanje en hun huis wordt steeds voller. Kees laat de dieren uit in het Amsterdamse bos, soms wel vijf tegelijk. Hoewel hij van elke vreemde hond nog steeds bang is, wordt het bos een ware passie voor Kees. Gewapend met stukjes kaas voor de kraaien en een fototoestel om zijn nek, wandelt hij er uren per week. Hij draait het om: hij laat niet de honden uit, maar de honden mogen met hem mee naar het bos... Een programma van Marije Schuurman Hess.
