In 2001 verschijnt Dave Mossing zo ongeveer uit het niets in de finale van ‘de Sterkste Man van Nederland’. Hij duikt opeens op, per ongeluk lijkt het wel. In 2005 wordt hij zelfs tweede na een krachtmeting met Jarno Hams en Edwin Hakvoort.
Dave komt op eigen kracht tussen die sterke mannen te staan; geen vader die hem naar judo bracht of moeder die speciaal calorierijk eten voor hem maakte.
