Ukrainian Jewish Heritage: Purim 2019

Purim is a holiday Jews observe in memory of an ancient Jewish victory. The story of Purim is recounted in the Book of Esther in the Bible. It’s a story of treachery and warfare in ancient Israel. It took place about 2500 years ago, but it had eerie parallels in the bloody 20th century in Europe. In both eras, Jews were targets of genocidal plans in both eras. And in both eras, their enemies all met an ignominious end; a high-ranking bureaucrat in ancient Babylonia, and the 20th century despots Hitler and Stalin.Full transcript here. Hosted on Acast.
