Ultra Training Tips from a Golden Ticket Winner with Adam Peterman

from Everyday Ultra · host Joe Corcione

One of the toughest accomplishments to achieve in ultrarunning is securing a Golden Ticket spot to Western States 100 by placing in the top 2 of the Canyons 100K race. And today’s guest recently accomplished that feat, even though the race was only his first 100K ever! Adam Peterman is a HOKA athlete who has been taking the ultrarunning world by storm over the last few years in his early career. He won the JFK 50 miler in 2021, nearly breaking a seemingly unreachable course record. And in this year, he took first place at the Canyons 100K race to secure his spot at Western States 100, where he will no doubt be a top contender to look out for in an already stacked field. And in this episode, we dive into Adam’s approach to training and preparation for big races, how he tackles negative thoughts during the middle of a race or on training runs, and what he’s focusing on going into Western States 100.
