Un-Shucked: The Darkest Secret Of Earth's Last Army | Sci-Fi Story

from Galactic Horrors

📖 Written by Galactic HorrorsHumanity arrives on the pressure-world as refugees, but behaves like conquerors because it has no other planet left to claim. The atmosphere crushes ordinary bodies and machinery, so the invasion depends on “un-shucking”: soldiers are stripped of their skin and fused with living carapaces harvested from the planet’s native sentients. The protagonist, a frontline soldier, survives only because part of the invaded species has been grafted onto him. From the first landing, he understands the war through his altered body: he sees the natives rising from the mud-flats like translucent, soft-bodied towers, folding and unfurling around heat vents with a grace that makes human armor look crude and temporary. The army insists the organisms are animals with mimicry, pressure instincts, and no real claim to personhood. But every field encounter contradicts that lie. The protagonist watches a wounded native flatten itself beneath a human tank, then re-form around the treads until the machine starts to look infected, less destroyed than claimed by a living intelligence that knows exactly where to hurt metal. Later, he is brought through the donor fields, where rows of sedated natives lie stretched open under pressure glass while their shells pulse above them like organs waiting for assignment. The sight makes the invasion impossible to separate from the surgery that keeps him alive: every breath he takes inside his graft depends on a body the army has emptied but not allowed to die.⚠️ Content Ownership NoticeAll stories, artwork, thumbnails, and animations featured on this channel are original creations of Galactic Horrors.
