Unashamed of God's Word 2 Timothy 2:14-19 Central Truth: God has given us His Word to guard us against the temptations of the world that lead to spiritual ruin and to guide us to grow in godliness. Parallel Passage: Hebrews 4:12-13 A warning against the improper use of God's Word. (2:14, 16-18) There are 3 Questions to ask of all teaching: Does it agree with Scripture, honor God, and exalt Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord?. Does it humble proud, fallen sinners? Does it promote holiness? A workman approved properly uses God's Word. (2:15, 19) Church requirement – Every Church should be a Bible School, where the Word of God is accurately taught.. Individual requirement – Every Christian should be a Bible Student, where the Word of God is accurately studied.
