UNC Cadets Earn Prestigious RECONDO Badge | Durham News

Three UNC Chapel Hill cadets—Jackson Carmichael, Naomi Clatworthy, and Carson Vitt—just earned the elite RECONDO badge, awarded to only the top six percent of over 5,000 cadets nationwide who trained at Fort Knox. They didn’t just pass—they dominated every event with flawless first-time performances, excelling in grueling physical challenges, marksmanship, obstacle courses, and leadership under pressure. Their success reflects the strength of UNC’s ROTC program, which ranked second nationally in average scores among 275 programs. Big wins for grit, skill, and excellence.
