UNCAGED With Michael Abernathy

Michael Abernathy is the President and CEO at Buckeye State Credit Union, a Community Development Financial Institution in Ohio. Under his  leadership, the company experienced its greatest year of profitability and eclipsed $1 Million in net income for the first time in company history. He also helped guide it out of a significant government oversight in 2018. Having worked as a business broker, franchise consultant, business consultant and in commercial lending and retail  banking before pursuing his role at the credit union, Michael gained a deep understanding about how to rebuild a company. Today, he continues to use those lessons to create a path toward the credit union’s future. Over the next few years, he aims to grow Buckeye’s geographic footprint to provide more services across Northeast Ohio and create more resources to reinvest in their company.
