This day is to honor the lives of transgender and gender-diverse people who have been murdered due to anti-trans violence and discrimination. The day serves as a reminder of the violence and systemic discrimination that the transgender community continues to face and a call to action to create a safer and more inclusive world. It is by no coincidence that we wanted to have our chat with Veronica Merryfield posted on this day. Veronica's Bio:Veronica, an established EDI community leader, originally from England, moved to Cape Breton in 2016. Formally educated in electronic engineering several decades ago, she has worked around the world in a number of markets both in engineering, sales, marketing, support, management and at c-level, but is now semi-retired from that and works as a luthier and EDI educator.Veronica has a transgender/intersex history. Drawing from her lived experiences, her EDI training/consultancy is in demand locally and further afield. She is the founder of the Cape Breton Transgender Network, a volunteer effort to provide support, education, training and advocacy.
